Like The New Year
Oh how i remember when i was a friend
And now I’m reduced to a firecracker
Used to say goodbye to the old year
Oh Gee could just have said no more too me
But, no nothing short of striking a match would do
Guess I really hurt you so your demeanor says
Everything short to a struck match to my rear wouldn't do
So with the swipe of the match against the matchbox just
Like anger building up and hoping this will end the hate
Just go ahead and light me if you think its worth it just one thing
Remember laws of physics what goes up must come down eventually
But most likely will be a dud or blow up in your face like always does
Wouldn’t it be better to light the way towards the road of forgiveness
Let the colors burst in your eyes with the promises of God’s love raining
I know feels like I hurt you but I really love you why I sent my Son to die
One day you will know when I take something away its to give back
Will be so much better then what you had, but got to let the old go
How can true blessings find you if your still holding your burdens
I know it hurt when I took them up to heaven with me leavening you
I am not the only one that sees your tears the ones you love see too
But should make you smile when there faces shine with what they know
Wipe those tears away let my love shine in you again for the time is coming
Like the new year coming at the strike of midnight well so will be my coming
Listen for the trumpets in the twinkling of an eye will be with the ones you love
