Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought [them]. But when Jesus saw [it], He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." Mark 10:13-15 NKJV
Jesus was more than a little piqued when His disciples blocked people from bringing their small children to Him so He could bless them. He then used their error to teach them an important lesson about faith.
Jesus used the children as an object lesson about the kind of faith God requires from each of us. The kind of faith God honors, Jesus taught them, is a childlike faith. It’s a faith that comes to Him with an open heart and an open hand, with a simple trust, and with an expectation that He wants to do good for those who come to Him.
How would you describe your faith in God today? In what ways do you think it needs to change?
Prayer: Father in heaven, help me come to You daily with childlike faith-trusting, helpless, open-hearted, and fully dependent on You for everything.
