Life is not like a box of chocolates, because everything works by cause and effect. If you looked at the diagram in the box (or on the box) you would know exactly what you will get. But then again.... life is like a box of chocolates in another way, in that if we eat the whole box its like being engrossed with the sweetness of sense pleasures, forgetful of the eventual bitter after-effects and sidetracked from experiencing joy within Spirit.*
