Matthew 5: 14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

pick any you agree with or state your own

Voted for: 6.Focus on others sins instead of your own?

Matthew 7:5

It takes effort and introspection to see our own sins. Other people's sins just jump out at you. No effort required.

Unbelievers often accuse Christians of being hypocrites. We need to watch our actions.

Great idea for a thread. Edifying each other on how to shine our light. I love it!

I agree! I see a bit of truth in all the options actually, but we truly need to be less of a hypocrite so that our light will shine more brightly. Although I thought it was a great idea for a thread, I wondered if many will not partake of it because people, even christians with the Holy Spirit, are often afraid to speak the truth on hard topics.

I changed my vote to also add 7.

7.Refuse to praise good things in others because its their duty to do good?

The squeaky wheel gets the grease kind of thing. If someone does a bunch of good things and one bad thing and we only give attention to the bad thing we come across as negative even unloving. If appreciation is regularly expressed for the good things, the squeaky wheel case is more likely to be well received. I'm not being preachy. I'm preaching to myself like in AA meetings they make people start by admitting the problem.
