Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He [is] our God, And we [are] the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: Psalm 95:6-7 NKJV
Many traditions still kneel before God during Sunday worship. Will that be true at your church? If yes, great! If no, are you willing to “kneel before the Lord our Maker” at home this weekend?
True, we can sit or stand before God, but kneeling expresses deeper humility and reverence before our Maker. This has been true since the days of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, since the days of Moses and Joshua, since the days of the psalmists, and since the days of Elijah, Isaiah, and other prophets.
This also will be true at the end of history, when everywhere everyone who has ever lived will stop everything, pay attention, and immediately and universally bow the knee before the Lord God their maker (prophesied in Isaiah 45:23, reiterated in Romans 14:11, and directly applied to the Lord Jesus in Philippians 2:10).
Before that climatic day, may you kneel and worship the Lord many, many times!
Prayer: Lord, at the climax of history, I don’t want to kneel before You for the first, fifth, or fifteenth time. That’s why I’m going to bow the knee before You right here, right now!
