Authority.
There is no other name given to Men where we may be delivered, saved, healed, rescued, or put in saftey. Spiritually, Physically, morally.
The Name of Jesus preserves, heals, protects, and can make whole.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
The Name of Jesus carries authority over things in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth. It reaches Hell itself.
Jesus said I give you power, authority, over demonic forces, Nothing can hurt you. Rejoice not that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your name is written in Heaven.
Luke 10:19-20
That is the head of the Church speaking to us. As Christians we can not pick and choose what part of the Word we want to believe. If he was not speaking to us, then our names must also not be written in Heaven.
Once we get to picking and choosing what we want to believe, or able to believe we can make the Word of God say anything.
Who was Jesus speaking to in John 3:16? Just the disciples?
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
If this is not for us, then believing in his name is not for us.
Even when my own son got Cancer, I did not ask God once to heal him, did not pray to God about it, I went right to the source of the trouble as instructed by the Head of the Church.
I told the devil he had to let go of my son in the name of Jesus, and had no right or legal ground to touch him. My son was not of age to believe on his own, He was under my authority, and no devil was going to kill him.
Now that he is older, and knows how to sow, and believe God, I told him I can agree with him in faith.
It's when we don't obey the Word, obey instruction, that is when tragedy comes. We end up as beggars praying over and over, in hopes God hears us, not understanding his will, being in the Dark. Do we believe we receive? Do we believe the Word can never fail?
The offensive:
The Sword, the Word of God, that is our weapon. Satan and his bunch have no recourse of plan for someone that will believe. God's Word can never fail.
We don't just let go and let God, we are told to stand.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1Pe 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
God is never the Problem, God is not the cause of the tragedy, we are told who the adversary is, and to be Vigilant against him. If we doubt our prayers, if we doubt receiving God's Wisdom, if we doubt the devil even has to obey. He will kill us, steal from us, and destroy us.
Jesus Is Lord.
don't believe that the Lord's statement in Luke 10:19 was intended to be taken as a mantle for all believers. I think it was a targeted instruction that applied only to the disciples present with Him that day for the mission work they would be carrying out. The devil loves it when we go around rebuking him in Jesus' name because he knows that (a)Jesus hasn't authorized that usage and (b), as I said, such rebuking plays into his hands because it takes our attention away from God at least momentarily. To resist, in my opinion, means to stand firmly in place - to be immoveable - as opposed to going on the offensive.
