So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, either, even though I'm in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. 2 Timothy 1:8 NLT
Should you love Halloween or loathe it? Should you celebrate it or avoid it? Should you decorate or leave your front porch dark? The following words won’t try to convince you one way or the other, but what you will read is how to bring God into a day like this. He needs to be here.
Never be ashamed of Jesus. Never be ashamed to take Him with you to restaurants, shopping experiences, and your neighbor’s house. Tell others about Jesus. Make Him a topic of discussion when the opportunity arises. Share the story of how He transformed you. It doesn’t have to be strange or unnatural.
Even on a day like today, you can bring Jesus to your front door. You don’t need to preach a sermon or denounce some of the reasons for the evening treat fest. Instead, you can offer creative ways to bring light. You can bring light to something children typically only recognize as a great way to amass a fortune in candy while dressing up.
If love is king, patient, and refuses to dishonor others, then show love—and share Jesus.
Prayer: Dear God, if love can replace fear, then help me love—not just today, but the first day of November, December, and January and all the days in between and beyond. This day is not immune from the need to show Your love to those who settle for substitutes.
