By looking at our own prayers, are we praying like we should do?

Let us look at some of the Prayers of Paul and see if we can learn by him, and follow his example.

Rom 1:8-10
(8) First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
(9) For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
(10) Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

Rom 10:1
(1) Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

Rom 15:5-6
(5) Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
(6) That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Co 13:7-9
(7) Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
(8) For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
(9) For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

Eph 1:15-23
(15) Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
(16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
(20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
(21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
(22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
(23) Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Eph 3:14-21
(14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
(15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
(16) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
(17) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
(18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
(19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
(20) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
(21) Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Phi 1:3-11
(3) I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
(4) Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
(5) For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
(6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
(7) Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
(8) For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
(9) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
(10) That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
(11) Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Col 1:3-14
(3) We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
(4) Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
(5) For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
(6) Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
(7) As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
(8) Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
(9) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
(10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
(11) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
(14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Paul prayed that God would work in and through circumstances, rather than merely change them.

Eph 5:20
(20) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Psalm 145:13
Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

Thank you Sister Word of Life,

this is true of giving thanks in all things.....

What we see happening in a situation, we can pray for change.... or, we can give thanks in it.... and see the manifestation of God's will in the whole affair.... and often change is part of that....
If we can find first, contentment in the Lord, and with it, His peace and confidence and hope and cheer, we can see that everythig is always changing but He never does... and therefore, whatever happens, we can still praise Him...

Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

1Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Bless you ....><>

Thanks Br. Bear.

I have been blessed and found this wonderful site this morning, which help us to pray with Paul.

Here's today's prayer:

By His Own Blood
Hebrews 8:1-13

Dear Father, the Majesty of heaven,

Thank you that in Jesus we have a totally understanding and merciful High Priest. He has your authority, seated at the right hand of the throne of your majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and true tabernacle which was set up by you, not men.

Thank you that the new covenant we have through him is superior to the old covenant in that it is written on our hearts and minds.

I want to know you, O God. I want to obey you. I want to spend my life in your service and eternity in your glory.

Remove my wickedness and remember my sins no more.

In the name of your holy Son, whose blood has bought my forgiveness, I pray. Amen.

Great Post!!

Great post Sister!!!

Those were not just Paul's Prayers, but they are the eternal Word of God given to Paul by the Holy Ghost.

I use to pray the Eph and Col Prayers several times a day for months. I just did it because I was told to in some book I was reading. The author of the said that those prayers gave him more spiritual insight and growth in six months than he had ever gotten in years being a pastor.

Why?

Those prayers are the will of God. They are the Word of God, and there is power in the Word to change your physical body and material world around you. Those prayers plant the seed of faith that God can take and grow into a abundance of revelation and knowledge.

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

As I kept faithful in this the revelation started to come. God is not mysterious. I stopping giving people that pat answer that you just never know what God is going to do, and he is just so mysterious. I am to be FILLED with the knowledge of his will in ALL wisdom and spiritual understanding. Even when I did not know what the plan of God was for something or why something had happened I realized I had a choice to agree with the word of God or not agree. That is called faith, God is not mysterious as I am to be filled with the knowledge of his will.

I found out that the Holy Ghost was able to speak to me more and more as my faith and trust on him grew, knowing that His will was not to keep me in the dark. This is just an example of what those prayers have done for me.

What is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who will believe... that same power that was used to raise Jesus from the dead, and providing eternal salvation to everyone was available to us!!!
Wow, I am still grasping that after all these years, but I am convinced that we are far from defeated.

I would take heed to this post!!!!!
Give God and his Word a chance and get busy with Paul praying the will of God that is forever recorded.

God bless you for giving us these encouraging words Brother Mike.

Here's todays prayer from Paul:-

Holding Fast to Faith
Hebrews 10:19-25

Dear Father,

Thank you for the confidence I can have to enter your sanctuary. May I draw near to you in faith, full of assurance, with my heart cleansed from a guilty conscience and with my body washed with pure water.

Grant that I may hold fast to the confession of my faith, without wavering, since I know that you, the one who promised, is faithful. May my enthusiastic expression of faith stir up fellow Christians to good works.

Let me not neglect meeting with my brothers and sisters or fail to remember that we all will be gathered to meet the Lord. May we encourage one another all the more as we see that glorious Day drawing near.

I am looking forward to the return of your Son, and it is in his name that I pray. Amen.
