He is our brother in Christ, which is not influenced by distance, for we are all joined together in Christ Jesus our Lord, and all receive our sustenance from Him. Perhaps isolation is God's will for Gregory, and if not He will show Gregory that, not you or I.

This remind me of Gamaliels creed. Gamaliel was a Pharisee not a follower of Jesus, but he said basically if God wants something to happen it will happen. .. and if God doesn't support something it will go away.
However Gamaliel was proven wrong in this.

It's interesting you say we can't change someone perspective by giving ours, but then you attempt to change ours by giving your perspective.

'And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone:
for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

(Act 5:38-39)

Hello @B-A-C,

Actually Gamaliel was right: but I was not attempting to change anyone's perspective, simply voicing mine. I am sorry that you should have taken it that way.

Thank you

Really? How long has Islam been around? How long has Buddhism been around?
Hello @B-A-C,

What has that to do with the situation pertaining when those words were spoken? Nothing! We have to remain within context.

Thank you

Chris

Is Islam of man or God? Is Buddhism of man or God?
'Lo, this only have I found,
that God hath made man upright;
but they have sought out many inventions.'

(Ecc 7:29)

Hello @B-A-C,

I have no idea why Islam or Buddhism or Hinduism or any other religious organisation exists. Do you? Though they cannot be of God for they do not believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: For God is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you

Though they cannot be of God for they do not believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God

But yet they have been around for hundreds of years.
So it seems Gamaliel was wrong in his statement, if it's not of God, it will come to naught. Islam has more followers than Christianity.

'Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said,
We ought to obey God rather than men.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour,
for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
And we are His witnesses of these things;
and so is also the Holy Ghost,
Whom God hath given to them that obey Him.'

(Acts 5:29)

'When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law,
had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
And said unto them,
Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody;
to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves:
Who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed Him, were scattered, and brought to nought.'
(Act 5:33-36))

Hello @B-A-C,

God is also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the children of Israel were the seed through whom the Saviour would come as promised in Genesis 3:15., they were His concern. The Gentile nations are not the subject of Scripture, except where they have relations with Israel, and when part of God's plan and purpose. Gamaliel's words were spoken to Israelites, within the framework of the nation, he would not have thought outside of that setting, as his words suggest (see words above in white). So, within that framework and setting, the words of Gamaliel were true.

I am leaning to my own understanding here obviously, for we know no more than what is written.

Thank you

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this, but Paul said....

Rom 11:13; But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,
1Tim 2:7; For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Gal 2:7; But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised
Gal 2:8; (for He who effectually worked for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles),
Gal 2:9; and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we might go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

All the books Paul wrote (with the possible exception of Hebrews, which no one knows for sure who wrote)
Romans, Corinthians, Thessalonians, Galatians, Colossians, Ephesians, Phillipians,... were they written to the Jews... or to Gentiles. Were these places in Israel, or in Gentile lands?

I think we need to be careful saying scripture is only for the Jews. I'm a Gentile, so I guess none of the Bible applies to me.
I've heard people say the teachings of Jesus were only for the Jews, but Jesus Himself said...

Matt 28:19; "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Matt 28:20; teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Hello @B-A-C,

With respect, what I said was, ' The Gentile nations are not the subject of Scripture, except where they have relations with Israel, and when part of God's plan and purpose. '. Think about it, am I excluding the Gentile? No!

Thank you

Hello @B-A-C,

Forgive me if I sounded abrupt in my last response, I did not intend to. I agree that care should be taken in this regard, for God's plan and purpose includes both, as Old Testament Prophecy, and New Testament fulfillment testifies to.

Hello there,

We are all God's workmanship, and one man's life experience will not be the same as another. If @Gregoryp is the Lord's then the Lord will lead him and direct him, He will guide Gregory in the way he should go. The words he expresses are the out pouring of his own heart, influenced by his life-experiences, which are different than our own, so we are in no position to judge him on any level.

What matters is His fellowship with the Father and the Son in the Spirit, and His growth into Him: as it is with ourselves. The fellowship we have with each other should be the overflow of the fellowship we have individually with them.

He is our brother in Christ, which is not influenced by distance, for we are all joined together in Christ Jesus our Lord, and all receive our sustenance from Him. Perhaps isolation is God's will for Gregory, and if not He will show Gregory that, not you or I.

I hear quite often from the Lord, "my time will come" what that actually means I dont know, but for now it is me and God time, and has been for many years.

1 Corinthians 13 is the love chapter. In it is all of the Agape love, God's love...a perfect love because He is perfect.

We need to strive for each one of these, but as true Christians, when we fail at even one, thank God we have Jesus.

I also think it is significant that the Bible states that there is faith, hope and love, of which only love remains.
Think about it, when we go to heaven, there is no need for faith, it has carried us through...there is no hope, we are there and the only thing left for all eternity is love...what a God!

13 But now faith, hope, and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
