And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart. And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods. Numbers 16:31-32 ESV
Ever get jealous of how God is using someone else? Maybe you wouldn’t put it like that. Maybe you just feel like if you were in someone’s role, you could do the job better. Or maybe you think some see themselves as superior because they’re in charge.
This was what Korah felt toward Moses. As a Levite, Korah served in the tabernacle, but he wasn’t a priest and he didn’t have the same connection to God. So Korah gathered men to his cause and complained.
Numbers 16:3 says, “They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, ‘You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?’”
Korah allowed his jealousy to consume him. As a result, he was consumed by the earth at God’s command (see Numbers 16:31-32).
If God has given you a task, do it to the best of your ability. Don’t look at how He’s using someone else. You are responsible for you.
Prayer: Lord, help me be satisfied with the tasks that are mine to do.
