Knowing the Lord

I would just like to say that reading this thread has been a blessing unto me. Many people think that they can get saved and then just set back and not work for the Lord. If a person wants to receive a full blessing from God i believe that they need to work for him, study his word, and belong in a church that is devoted to him.

Being in a church with others that truly believe and trust in God is one of the greatest blessing in the world. The church that i belong to has been a great blessing to me. I just feel like everyone there is my family (which they are spiritual family).

Some might be afraid to "work" for him but they shouldn't be. For God has given everyone a talent. However, if that talent is not put to use God will take that talent away from you.

Just remember to trust in him and you shall prosper.

That you Stephen.

I just can't describe what a blessing that one receives from working in the name of the Lord. I personally believe that it is the greatest feeling in the world other than receiving salvation.

And if one doesn't be obedient unto the lord and do of his command they are not receiving the full blessing that they could be.

I would also like to tell any one that doesn't currently belong to a church that they need to find the one that they belong to.
Because the feeling that is received from a loving church is also amazing, and the people are just like family and you know that they will always be there for you in times of need.

We have been here 1.5 years, & still have not found one where God's love continually radiates outward.

If you know of such a church between Fort Payne,AL & Scottsboro,AL & Trenton,GA & Summerville,GA PLEASE pm me name & location.
(Preferably one where the music &/or talking isn't so loud it hurts your ears.)

I love this, "And that i may know Him.." Knowledge is power. People perish due to lack of it. If we know Him then we can never go wrong as long as we abide in Him.

Stephen, that is a very good illustration....that we are clerks working for our boss ,yet we know Him not. This reminded me of Jesus after His ressurrection, He walked with His disciples on the road Yet they dint know( or have knowledge) it was Christ UNTIL He opened the eyes of their understanding......That to me is so powerful....We work for and with God but we dont know Him, we dont know His nature, ways, and what He's able to do to us and for us. So we have to come to a point in our lives that we pray like Paul in Ephesians 1:17 ".....I pray that God may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better....." Why Spirit of Wisdom? Wisdom is the right application of knowledge. And why spirit of Revelation? That the H.Spirit may help us search and reveal the heart of God hence, knowledge of Him.

It is my desire every day to know and fall in love the more with Him. "God open the eyes of my understanding that i may know You. Amen."ray:

rlowe, just an idea here. What if you looked for a church where yes the bible is being taught and the worship service is in line with scripture even though it may be a dead or dying church. Your presence there would have an influence and with God's help breath life back into the congregation!

My wife and I have done a similar thing. Several years ago we tried a few of the churches in our area and found them to all pretty much be the same, kind of dead ya know? Well eventually God led us to a choice and to make a long story short He has used us to totally change that church. Things have been happening there that have increased faith, changed hearts and brought the presence of The Holy Spirit! We didn't do it, God did. All we did was bring in our faith and prayer. It's a beautiful sight to see people change! AND it has done both of us a lot of good as well. Now we are all growing together and have a new family of brothers and sisters in Christ.

I consider our presence there to have been a mission, just like any other mission, and am honored that God used us to help free people from religion and brought them into a saving relationship with the living God!

I want to be clear, we didn't get up in front of the congregation and plead with people. All we did was set the right example, speak the truth, participate and pray. By doing this we brought encouragement to those scattered throughout the congregation who knew there had to be more to Jesus that this. One by one people began to follow suit and after a few years it has snow balled!! God works in wondrous ways. Amen.
