Did Jesus' earthly father Joseph witness Him die on the cross and is there any reference to it?

Did Joseph live to see Jesus ascend to heaven, or did he die at some stage?

These may sound like strange questions, but I remember watching something recently which indicated that Joseph died, this may or may not be true however.

Thank you

The Bible does not say anything about Joseph after their return from Egypt. It mentions that Jesus used to work as a carpenter, so maybe Joseph taught him that. After this, i don't know anything else about Joseph. What happened to him, is, i think, a minor question, one that we can debate, but i don't think we'll ever know (except in heaven). There are things that we do not need to know here on earth - God didn't inspire Mathew, Mark, Luke or John to write so much about Joseph because, we do not need to know the details. He was a tool in God's hand and after God completed his work with him, he left the scene empty, so that Jesus could be the one performing the great act of God's salvation.
This should be an example for us too... Too many times we want to have first place and to be in the center of attention, and because of this God does not work through us...

I agree with Sebi. Some questions are interesting indeed, but without biblical answers - or at least definite ones.

Thank you for the replies, I had to ask the question to know if it has a Biblical answer or not, now I know and accept it.

God bless
