Is this true?

It's funny how those who can't make a defense always seems to go to the "spiritual". The passage was written to Israel many centuries ago.

What is there to defend? Isaiah 61:1 were the very first words of Jesus' ministry, so no matter when it was written it was for him in his day several hundred years after
the writing.
So exactly what is your question?

"ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

I have no question. Just pointing out that you had the verse out of context. It was written to Israel

God is the Only One who knows who His elect are. They are from every nation / every people group. We don't know who God's Elect are. We are told to share the Gospel unto salvation with All who will listen.

The Bible tells us who they are.

@Butch5 -- well -- since God is the Only omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent entity -- that means He's the only one who has All knowledge -- From Your perspective what does the Bible tell us who the Elect of God are?!

God is all knowing and He tells us who the elect are.

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Hi Paul, I love knowing that I am Spiritually joined to God's chosen, It brings me more intimately closer to Jesus. bless you brother. Trevor

Bless you Trevor,

We are grafted in by Jesus, we can easily be graphed out by God, the important thing all Christians should be aware of is that we are grafted in to 'the original root stock', the lump. We are not as some think a branch off the Jewish faith, or a separate religion, we are grafted into the lump, the true root stock. Amazing.

I read recently, within the last eight weeks I think, that the Archbishop of Canterbury was arranging to meet the Jewish leaders, to try talk them into converting to Christianity. Little has changed in 2000 years, they need to know Jesus as the promised Messiah, their promised Messiah, their personal Saviour, not convert to Christianity, based on a discussion with the leader of the Church of England.

Meanwhile brother, yes we are joined together, we drink of the same cup, we grow from the same sap. May the Father be pleased and cut us back hard in the right season so that we can bear more fruit for Him though Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bless you

@Butch5 - so you believe that Israel / the Children Of Israel are God's Elect. There are 12 tribes Of Israel. Only the tribe of Judah are the Jews. So -- you're saying that even though salvation was extended to the Gentile world -- every one Besides the Jews -- that they are not of the elect and so not included in salvation?

How about John 3:16 -- the "who so ever" believeth will not perish but have everlasting life.

Well, I am from the “tribe of Judah”, because greater is he that is in
Me than he that is in “ the world”. So I think, that means, I am in. And I am not, coming out!

(Galatian 4).
26For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ. 28There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise.

@PloughBoy -- so you're saying that you are Jewish. It's very possible that your understanding of some theology is a little off.

You're saying that God is in you and you're not of the world -- so therefore you are from the tribe of Judah?

I said exactly what I posted, no more no less as I understand what the text is saying to all who are in “Christ Jesus”. For Jesus is “The true Israel”, for He is the “seed”.

I didn't say anything about salvation. I don't know how you got there.

I am going to say this, and I am not going to address this again. The Hebrew people and the Jewish people and the 12 tribes of Israel are the same race of people! And I will not address this against.

The 12 Apostles are Jewish and they are of “The Elect” of God. Plus “Judas” was a “Elect” too.

Bless you Paul, Yes we are grafted in by Jesus, he chose us before the world was made. I find that awesome. Eph 1: 11 - 14, In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order the we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. and you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory. As for the archbishop of Canterbury, well you've said it. Many say we can choose, but that goes against the words of Jesus John 15: 16, You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. If the Spirit of God witnesses with our spirit, then we are the elect. Scripture speaks of a living hope, this scripture keeps me from being complacent. My hope is kept alive by my relationship with the Holy Spirit, all the while he continues to touch me I feel confident. Trevor

Those are amazing and heart felt words brother, I do not have words that can come anywhere near this...

Eph 1: 11 - 14,
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order the we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. and you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory.

An Amazing Truth, we do not deserve it, but Christ died so that we may be saved.

Thank you Lord Jesus for all you did and went through, to fulfil prophesy to the letter, to do the Father's will to the Word, to die the cruellest death ever invented, to shed your blood for our sins; a deposit, a guarantee, you paid the price dear Lord, you paid it 'In Full', we are forever in your debt, but you set free, even from that debt when we are Saved by you. You are Amazing Lord, we worship and praise you, we give our Father the Glory through you Lord, we Praise your Holy Name. Help us to continue to practice righteous, forgive us when we don't achieve what you want or expect from us, we will continue ask for your forgiveness and to practice righteousness in your Holy and most Precious Name. In Jesus Name we thank you and Praise you. Amen

Amen. Bless you mate. when people mention the failings of brothers, they should read the account of the Passover. Moses told the Israelites to kill a lamb with no blemish, smear the blood on the door lintel and be inside when the angel of death passes over. The first born of all who weren't covered by the blood of the lamb perished. The interesting fact, is that there were no criteria, other than the covering of the blood that was necessary to save those inside the blood covered houses. There could have been paedophiles, murderers, thieves along with the righteous, but the blood of the lamb protected them. Not their condition. Being a sinner who in his lifetime has committed capital crimes. That allows me hope. Jesus is the Lamb of God and we are covered by his blood, our sin has never been an issue. Bless you brother. Trevor.
