Is the bible just a book of rules and regulations?

It is a shame that some see the bible that way. Many don't believe God really does wonders by his Spirit. Very few hear his voice. The first thing about the bible is to learn about the God you believe in. The next is to meet him personal. Through his word he literal speaks to you. For years he has spoken to me very often.

The bible is amazing because there is more there to read than the pages can hold. The one bible is visible--the one you have--the other is hidden, only God can show you this. No matter what question you may have it is answered.

I believe that the Bible is the flesh of Jesus. When consume it and also drink the blood of Jesus the flesh is quickened in us coming to Life. That is being born again, being resurrected or brought back to Life by quickening Spirit.

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2; He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3; All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being
John 1:14; And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Bible is the very essence of God. It tells of His character, His love, His passion, His wrath, His mercy, His forgiveness, His holiness, His Majesty... and His plan of Salvation
that included sending His ONLY BEGOTTEN son to die for our sins. How can you know God if you don't know the Bible? Yes the Holy Spirit is part of the answer, but only part.
To say Jesus only is to deny the Father and the Spirit, to say Spirit only is to deny Jesus and the Father. All parts are equal.

I could read a book about someone that yet another person wrote (called a biography), and I would know some things about that person.
Or, I could read a book that they themselves wrote. 2 Tim 3:16; and I could really start to know that person. Not what someone else thinks they said or thinks they meant, but what they actually said.
If you don't know the Bible, you don't know God as good as you could.

Yes there are rules in it, "commandments" and ways to live and things not to do, and things God hates, and people God loved. You can look at them as rules, or you can look at them as a
path to be more Godly. More moral. More Loving. More forgiving. More compassionate. ... in other words, More like Jesus.

Yes indeed it is very sad, some have to read the bible to set guidelines for living, neglecting intimacy with Father and missing out on living under the guidance of HolySpirit.

One could perform every requirement of the Bible and still not know God, what a tragedy that would be. Without revelation form God the Word will avail us nothing, and our flesh will run amok with religious interpretations.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Amen, amen.

The supernatural imparting of clarity and increased capacity to love God and other people by the Holy Spirit is the only chance for us to start understanding the depth of God's love and being one with of our Savior Lord Jesus Christ.

A concept that is often dismissed over our enthusiasm to "love" God back on our own strength. Or our intellectual arrogance thinking we understand the Scriptures better than our fellow brothers and sisters because we "try harder."

One thing I learned is that apart from God there is no life. Just existence. It is a awesome understanding how small I am. That makes me feel good. The bible feeds my spirit so I can grow into the exciting life he gives. A daily waiting on him is exciting to. My greatest desire is to see or help others come to know he is more than just knowledge. When I make statements to help people think he is a living God, even by saying there is more in the book than natural eyes can see, it is to coerce others to dig a little deeper. It is kind of like when you get a new car, you are excited and want to tell others. I can do without the car but not him. Praise to me is bragging rights. In a reverent way I like to show off how great God really is. He came back with ----okay --that's our calling to praise his glory he will meet us there anytime. Eph.1: If he didn't give me something to point to him, I wouldn't share it. No flesh will glory in his presence. The posts above have been very encouraging. I love you for it. God bless. today is bread and cup day for me.

The bible is a book of hope and promises. Obeying the commandments gives us the opportunity for earning rewards and pleasing God! He said, "If you love me keep my commandments".

Today as I was studying the word, Was just getting ready to open the bible. God spoke to me the words my pleasure. He then had me look for that and I knew what he meant. When I found the words he led over to Ps. 111:2. It put tears in my eyes because I knew where to go next. Any comment on Psalms leads me to The treasury of David. There are a lot of words there so I will jot down what was there for me to see. He wanted to comfort me with these words and to share them here.

By the way the book by Spurgeon is free on E-sword.

The works of his pleasure v.2 are also coupled with v.5. the works of meat. Heb. 5: talks about those who drink only milk but are not ready for meat. v.5 is a spiritual statement.
Spur. says the hidden wisdom of God is one of his most marvelous works. He shows God wants to have us find pleasure in seeking that wisdom as with a shovel. digging in the word.
He speaks the same as I had spoken about finding more under the surface than what is seen above it.
He says the reverent minds of those who meditate have sweet solace.
Those who are called to preach must spend much time preparing in the word. They know that they must answer for teaching error or false doctrine.
At the same time they must sit at Jesus feet and be taught by the Spirit.

111:7 says all his commandments are sure. Matt. 22:40 these 2 are the big ones that Jesus said would be the greatest.

The thing was brought to my attention last week about Daniel. You wouldn't see it unless God told you. That was in Dan.2:. Daniel told the king about the dream which revealed the head of gold, and the other body parts which led up to the stone or rock which was Jesus would crush the final kingdoms. Look what Nebu. did. He erected a idol. It was to be him and the kingdoms. He would have people worship the idol. In Matt. 7:6 when we read it the words stand out cast not your pearls before swine , lest they rend you with them.

Nebu. did that to Daniel. God humbles proud Nebu. in ch.4:. This in Dan. is a pix of that evil return for ones pearls.
That is very difficult for one who has lots of pearls to give away. All the greedy false prophets and teachers of our time can't wait to mock and be used of the evil one to mar and tarnish pearls which are holy. All the folks with the pearls are only able to encourage others to get out their shovels and get busy. They are pioneers who have struck gold. They can't boast or brag because they can't tell them. So we are stewards of the mysteries of God to protect them and also share with those who we can. Not on the forums. but in fellowship. We continue to pray God feed your sheep. In Hosea 4:6 my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. That is a heavy burden to carry. God helps by carry it for us.

That is why it is important to be filled with the Spirit. He keeps us from doing good things but the wrong way. To hear him speak has saved my life many times. The devil would try to harm us but being sealed with the Spirit is a promise of protection. One day I was driving down a hill to go to work. It was completely covered with ice. It came to a two way turn ---left or right . To go straight was to go off the cliff to your death. All of a sudden I went into a hydro-plane. At that moment shouted the name of Jesus and a grip came under the van. It was as if there was no ice. Stopped at the stop sign, and had church. There was no road to be seen, God made it feel that way. there is no grip in a ice packed road, to hydro. on.

God does miracles daily for those who believe. He lit. swore by his word he would.

Rom 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Indeed, but also always remember the following verse:
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" Rom 10:14
If we don't believe, our words are empty and we remain without salvation. The worst of unrepentant sinners in a bar room calls on the name of Jesus in sarcasm and anger and obtains no salvation from it...
