Hi all. I grew up in an evangelical christian household. My parents are both senior pastors in the AOG. I am no longer a practising Christian.
I am here to listen, learn and share (not to teach). I want to make it absolutely plain to you all that I am not looking to get into any kind of debate or to challenge believers regarding their faith. I consider myself a guest in somebody else's house and I intend to honour the heartfelt devotion you have to your faith by acting with sensitivity and empathy in response to it.
It' been 20 years since I last entered a church on a Sunday. What has changed in the hearts of believers since then? Maybe not much (in a core sense) BUT much has happened in recent world history and it would be interesting to see how these events have served to shape your various opinions on issues effecting us all: Civil Unions, new legislations in education and health, war, political leadership, torture, Islam, climate change, the media, changes in the economy. 20 years ago we didn't even have mobile phones or the internet. So, can you see where I am going with this? I think that sometimes in life its refreshing (and educational) to sit at another table and break bread with strangers.
I intend to join in and share my own views in a manner that is in keeping with the spirit of TalkJesus.
Love and light
