Hi all. I grew up in an evangelical christian household. My parents are both senior pastors in the AOG. I am no longer a practising Christian.

I am here to listen, learn and share (not to teach). I want to make it absolutely plain to you all that I am not looking to get into any kind of debate or to challenge believers regarding their faith. I consider myself a guest in somebody else's house and I intend to honour the heartfelt devotion you have to your faith by acting with sensitivity and empathy in response to it.

It' been 20 years since I last entered a church on a Sunday. What has changed in the hearts of believers since then? Maybe not much (in a core sense) BUT much has happened in recent world history and it would be interesting to see how these events have served to shape your various opinions on issues effecting us all: Civil Unions, new legislations in education and health, war, political leadership, torture, Islam, climate change, the media, changes in the economy. 20 years ago we didn't even have mobile phones or the internet. So, can you see where I am going with this? I think that sometimes in life its refreshing (and educational) to sit at another table and break bread with strangers.

I intend to join in and share my own views in a manner that is in keeping with the spirit of TalkJesus.

Love and light

Welcome! :)

Welcome nologo,
I believe you are here by devine intervention! Jesus welcomes you with open arms, as do we.

I have been in the same situation as you, you can do this. Ask anyone here!

Read the parable of the lost son in Luke 15!

God Bless! :angel-animated:

Greetings nologoboy,

Welcome to Talk Jesus !

Since you took time to share your reason for being here, please have a good read of the forum rules before posting any more, and that way, if you know what goes and what doesn't , you will not cut yourself off from the forum, but rather, enjoy and learn of Jesus and about Him.

Bless you ....><>

Thankyou both for your kind welcome. I have had a a good look at the rules and have also had a lengthy sift through the forum threads. I think I will spend most of my time in the areas like 'Ethics and Morality'...there are some very meaty threads in there. Whilst the discussions are always going to come back to the Christian perspective, these are mainly issues that we deal with as a whole in society and I value other people's views where that is concerned.

I think it would be inappropriate for me to post in certain areas in this forum. I recognize that people come here to share Christian fellowship and also to benefit from the encouragement that can be offered in times of stress and vulnerability. I guess the analogy that works here would be myself joining you all in the park for a bbq and friendly fellowship as opposed to crashing a serious prayer meeting.

peace

Greetings again nologoboy,

just before reading your post above, I was thinking much the same thing as your last sentence.... how believers can fellowship over a meal and enjoy friendship found in Jesus with each other,

Bless you ....><>
