Inside Joke - May 04, 2007

I was having breakfast with my kids and as we were all talking and laughing, one of my college boys out of the blue said something like, "Yeah, and then the rats would put on their jammies." Something like that, I don't remember exactly because it made absolutely no sense at all. And he was laughing uproariously at whatever rat joke he had just told. The rest of us were just sitting there, smiling and blinking...and processing...waiting for his joke to make sense. But we totally didn't get it.

Kaley finally broke the silence with, "Jordan, you just told an inside joke where YOU were the only one inside, didn't you!" Jordan said, "Yeah, but if my roommate was here, he'd be laughing really hard right now." Then we ALL laughed really hard at the fact that Jordan was having such fun with his roommate--even though his roommate wasn't here!

Know what? It's even more fun with Jesus. He's always on the inside--even if we don't see him. He's always in on it. And that's a good thing. Even those times when we totally don't get it--we don't understand exactly how he's working in a situation, we can rest in knowing that he really is here, and he's working not only on the situation, but on US--on the inside. Philippians 2:12 is the most wonderful reminder that "it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." And in Romans we're told that he can do that work through absolutely any situation. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It's better than an inside joke (though those are so fun). It's an inside WORK. And when the work is finished, we look more like Jesus than we did before.

That's the most important "inside information." It's just a bonus that it comes without rats in jammies.

Yes. I totally relate to this. I have had some inside jokes with Jesus. I still chuckle to myself to think of some of the one-liners the Lord has spoken to me at odd, unexpected moments.

Surely, the Lord has a great sense of humor! After all, He created us with a sense of humor, and we are created in His image.

"Is it not wonderful that we have been given the 'mind of Christ' and where else in realm or world can we see such a thing?" ICor. 2:16

I'll need you to post some of these if you can remember them. I'm interested in this very much :D

Its unfortunate that I cannot remember such a moment like that, maybe its happened before where GOD was making me laugh and I did not realize it. I don't know. One thing I certainly know is that GOD does have a sense of humor as I'm clownish myself sometimes lol. Sometimes I find myself laughing to myself

GOD bless :)

Okay, you convinced me

I was getting ready for Sunday School. My kids were little. Everything was going wrong and I felt a spiritual battle, as if the enemy did not want me to go teach Sunday School to the 5th Graders. I caught a look at myself in the mirror, and my reflection appeared highly grouchy and sour.

I squeezed my eyes shut tight, and prayed out loud, "Lord, kill my flesh!"

In my spirit, I heard Him answer immediately: "Are you sure? It's a mighty big piece of meat."

__________

The other time, I asked Him out loud, "When, Lord? When will I be complete?"
He said softly and I felt Him smile: "When you die."

When you die?

I"ll need 5 cups of potent green tea to recover from this thought LOL.

But, this is true process of salvation, thanks to Jesus!

Thanks for sharing sister. God bless you

May God give you many precious inside jokes, Chad. May you be greatly comforted by Him and held securely in His grace. May He bless you and make His face to shine upon you!:sun:

Thank you sister Dreamer and Chad for sharing.
I too have had some inside jokes with Jesus

I couldn't come up with one right now but I will come back later and share mine.

Blessings

I'm looking forward to your inside jokes, abigya:star:

I had trouble remembering the 2nd one, I'm not sure it was worded exactly right. The first one about the big piece of meat has always stuck in my mind securely!

Here it is Dreamer

Once I went to visit a lady who didn’t come to church on Sunday because her daughter was sick, and she gave me a very cold Coke to drink and while drinking her daughter wants to have my coke and she was crying and bugging her mother to give her my coke. The mother didn’t want to give her cold drinks because she was coughing very heavily.

So I was looking at the mother trying to convince her daughter to drink her warm juice and very uncomfortable because she was crying out loud.

God spoke to me at that moment “this is how you act”
I pictured my self doing exactly what the child was doing and I started lol at my self.

Amen, awesome! :sun:

* Dreamer claps and jumps up and down, saying, "More, more, more stories please!"
