In Times of Stress and Fear

I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. Psalm 142:1-2 NKJV

David wrote Psalm 142 in a terrible time of stress and fear. King Saul, in a fit of rage and jealousy, had gathered three thousand fighting men and begun a campaign to chase down and kill David. Hiding in a cave in the wilderness of En Gedi, the frightened David poured out his heart to God.

In the remainder of Psalm 142, David cries out to the Lord for help and hope. Though his heart is aching with fear, David acknowledges that God is “my refuge, my portion in the land of the living” (v. 5) and then pleads with Him for deliverance (v. 6).

Though you’ll not likely find yourself needing to hide out in fear for your life, you will go through times when life stresses you, leaving you feeling as though you have nowhere to turn. Like David, though, you’re never truly alone during times of stress and fear. The Lord is always there with you, waiting and ready to act on your behalf when you call out to Him for help.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, sometimes life doesn’t seem fair. Sometimes it’s so hard that I don’t know what to do. During those times, help me to remember that I can always turn to You for comfort and help.

Why is it that some are born inclined towards God with all good blessings, and others fortunate only to hear His name?

God judges iniquity the same among all people, and it seems we're born to varying degrees of favor in the sight of God.

Adding to this is the insult of man against man to dominate the other; it is as if a constant threat looms all the time. Some of us are true outcasts and among mankind we have no hope of a future.. for we are always alone or shown the door.

Dear twcstp,
My heart goes out to you and those who feel outcast from God's presence. For surely the feelings of the latter are but a breath and the former an unnecessary condition. For He has provided us a path to follow, a doorway if you will by which we can enter by, in/through His Son Jesus.

I am sure you have read this address of Paul to the men of Athens. It would do well to read it again what God through Paul was telling those who would ponder His Words and seek His Face. It was true then, and true now. He is not far from us, though we sadly, believe He is.

Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. "Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, "so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.' "Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising. "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." Acts 17:22-31 NKJV

Remember the Devil is a liar. The things of this world can be useful in seeing how wonderous/glorious God really is, but in most cases, it is a snare to catch the unwary to do the opposite.

Again, Jesus spoke about not being anxious, worried. In Luke 12:22-34, Matthew 6:25-34 there is so much to turn over to Him; to let Him take care of You, and not the other way around. :)
He is not a hard task master, that you should be concerned where the next blow is to come from; at least that which is foreign to any man. His touch is gently, loving, caring for all. You just need to trust, and most difficult to do is submit to His Will vs our own. Especially as you look at the World and it says, He is here, no He is there...

We all have questions brother. Some get answered, some not yet.

We are a strange people brother. We want to be about something, chomping at the bit, but in truth we seek ourselves, and not His will be done in most cases, or His will as long as we agree! (Heavy sigh).

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

It does strike to our pride...for wouldn't we be doing things differently, so that pain, anguish, trials, tribulations, would not be known? That we could see Him plainly whenever "we" wanted...instead as in the Garden when He was there to be walked with man hid himself. :( Our sin betrays us! :( Yet even then He is faithful dear brother and that is what we hold on to! He understands us, better than we do ourselves!

We all would be envious of Moses, but he and others really did not want it brother!!! Look throughout scripture and you will find that those called, were not chomping at the bit (2nd time) to being doing what God was calling them to do!!!

lol- we do so, want to be that "tool" He uses, or at least the one who holds the door open for others...just knowing He our Lord Jesus is our Hope, doesn't seem to be enough. It is like we seek something more substantial to see, to hold on to! Something we do not have to wait, for don't you know the world is still turning...it's passing us by! Sometimes I believe that Eternity is not long enough to satisfy the cravings, the "wants" if you will, the "longing" of being complete.

It is a good thing that those in Jesus are being changed. Yet, in so doing we will/are undergoing a battle between the spirit vs flesh. Not easy, but it's worth having! For it lets us know that He is in work in us, even when there appears to be little evidence otherwise!

Well, brother; I hope what was laid upon my heart/spirit to share with you will help. Maybe, I misconstrued what exactly you were seeking, what words would ease the burden of your spirit to know that you are not alone and have never been but do know that you are loved!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
