In Christ you don't get forgiveness, In Christ you are forgiven!

Even in this day and time of the New Covenant, I see way to much legalism. There still seems to be too frequent talk of works and what you must do in order to gain or even maintain God's favor.

Surely forgivess comes first then salvation, for the the Lord died once and for all; then he sat down because his work was finished. We should also be equally confident that not only all who are alive today and those yet to have their physical birth have forgiveness available to them.

There is the occassional hard core legalism like you must be water baptised or if you don't speak in tongues your not saved or, you must daily ask for forginess and repent of your sins to remain forgiven and therefore saved. Water baptism, speaking in tongues, can be wonderful experiences and truly a repentant heart is a true mark of salvation but, once a person is convinced that these are a requirement to salvation, then that can lead to the bondage of : "maybe I am not saved if I haven't done these things or done them adequately"....believe it, this happens!...the enemy loves doubt!!

God said his Grace is a gift. For me, if it is a gift, it is free:
( and no, I don't think a true Christian can sin indiscriminately)

Jeremiah 31:34
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the LORD.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more

1 Corinthians 13:5
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Romans 8:1
Life Through the Spirit
1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

John 12:47
47-50"If anyone hears what I am saying and doesn't take it seriously, I don't reject him. I didn't come to reject the world; I came to save the world.

John 3:15-18
15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”[a] 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

John 11:25-26
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
