Hi - I have a question. Although brought up in the Church, I strayed for 30 years having only recently returned wholeheartedly to Jesus. I became involved in some forum groups on Facebook and was nailed down by some people who describe themselves as Calvinists. After much discussion around John 3:16, they have told me that I am damned to Hell for believing the false Gospel of Free Willism rather than in Limited Atonement which is of God's choosing only. Please help as I am so confused! I had always believed that we must choose to accept the gift of Salvation made possible through Jesus dying on the Cross?

Welcome to the boards Lightseeker. I can tell from your post you're very troubled by this question. I covered the subject of salvation and predestination in an articlehttp://www.divineintervention.ws/News-Commentary/Keith'sComments/comm-12-10-2003.htm I penned several years ago. If at some point in your life you placed your faith in Jesus to save you, then that article should put your mind at ease.

Here's today's offering...

But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. (Isaiah 5:16)

Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD. (Ezekiel 38:23)

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. (Psalms 4:4)

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? (2 Corinthians 13:5)

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:24)

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. (Lamentations 3:40)

Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. (Haggai 1:5)

Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. (Ezekiel 18:28)

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (1 Corinthians 11:31)

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. (1 John 3:20)

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (1 Peter 3:18)

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; (Hebrews 10:12)

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (2 Corinthians 5:6)
