I Need bible help?

I haven't read anywhere in the Bible where it tells us to put anything before God. If we do that, we are going against the first commandment.

Exodus 20:2-4
2 "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:" KJV

We should never put anything before God.

Matthew 6:31-34
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." KJV

We should always seek God first.

Mark 12:30
"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." KJV

Loving God is the first commandment.

Matthew 6:24
"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." KJV

We are to serve God only, nothing else.

Cody I think you mis read what stylez said. You have given him the answers to his question.

I didn't misread it. I just posted those verses since I couldn't find any that are for putting things before God.

Luke 9:23-27
23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

26For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Fathers, and of the holy angels.
27But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

Luke 14: 26-35
26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple
27And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

I will continue to look for more.

Grace and peace.

This may help

Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
that word "gods" also means ; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty. Anything or anyone in our life can take the place of God if we allow it. Deuteronomy 5:7

Lev 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Luk 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

There ya go!

Luke 14: 26-35 is specifically the one your looking for. GOD is the highest, Alpha and Omega. GOD should always come first and foremost in our lives. How insensitive and disrespectful would it be to put others above GOD? Doesn't sound right at all.

your signature says Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh, I confess

He is not coming back in the flesh; Christ is coming with heavenly glory

here is my favorite verses
Rev 5:1- 10
1 ¶ And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?"
3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.
5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."
6 ¶ And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty–four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."

in the gospel of matthew jesus stated very clearly that if we love mother or father or sister or brother or wife or child more than me you are not worthy of me. there are many places where it is referred to but since jesus is god then all scripture states it.

Where in the bible thats teachs on not putting people, place, things before God?
Exodus 20:2-3 says, "I am the Lord your God.......You shall have no other gods before me."

This means that God must be more important than people, places, and things. Anything or anyone that we make more important than God is an "other god" (an idol).

Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Everything we do? We as if we were doing it for HIM!

this means everything!
You know if all people did this? No one would complain or reject doing any work, no matter if others refused or not! We would be happy to bless others , even if it was picking up garbage!

First off, regarding your favorite verses google search the CD by Kirk Bennet called Realm. Truly annointed and most of it covers your favorite portion of Scripture.

your signature says Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh, I confess

He is not coming back in the flesh; Christ is coming with heavenly glory

Not meaning to cause a thread drift here, but this needs to be addressed. My signature is a rewording of the following Scripture.

4Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I agree He is coming back in His heavenly glory. When I confess that Jesus IS come in the flesh, I confess that the Spirit raised up Jesus from the dead in the flesh, and that same Spirit dwells in me and shall likewise quicken my mortal body. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He ascended fully in the flesh where He remains in the flesh at the right hand of the Father. And we have been told through the Scriptures how He is coming back.

Acts 1

9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

So I confess that Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh. Everyone acknowledges that Jesus has come in the flesh. History tells us that. Not everyone confesses that He is come in the flesh. He sits presently in the flesh at the right hand of the Father. Jesus is likewise come in my flesh. Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone. Jesus is in the Father, He is in me, and I in Him.

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Abigya, do you confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh?

Grace and peace be unto you.
