Oh, that [men] would give thanks to the LORD [for] His goodness, And [for] His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:8-9 NKJV

When God created our bodies, He arranged it so that we would feel a hunger for nourishment and a thirst for hydration, both of which we need to survive and thrive. On a spiritual level though, He instilled in us something even more important: a hunger and thirst for Him.

Sadly, many men try to quench that thirst and satisfy that hunger for God with anything and everything but Him. They attempt to use power, money, relationships, sex, and many other things this world has to offer to find the satisfaction only God can give them.

Jesus once told His followers, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6). We can take these words to mean that when we take our spiritual hunger and thirst directly to God to find satisfaction, we can be sure that He will fill our souls and bless and lives with the very best thing: Himself.

Prayer: Provide God, as much as I need physical nourishment and hydration, I need You even more. Thank You for making me hungry and thirsty for You—and for giving me Yourself every day so that I can live as You’ve called me to live.

Great doctrine thanks

I am reminded he can send a famine for hearing the word of God the power of our salvation . It is found in the metaphorical phrase drink the blood used in a few parables old and new testemtment (John 6) . In the end revealing the Son of man Jesus in jeopardy of his own spirit life suffered to bring the gospel .

God uses three (trinity) to indicate the end of a matter throughout the bible .

God sending David a famine for hearing the gospel

2 Samuel 23:15-17 King James Version (KJV) And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord. And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

There water represents the water of the word or action of the Holy Spirt coming down (inspired) from above . Blood is used also to represent the unseen work of God . In that way the life of the flesh is in the blood that life is spiritual not seen . Literal blood like shown with David above without the spirit essence of life must be poured out so it can return to the clay of the field
