Hi Joe Please don't think I'm laughing at you. I did take a while to stop laughing though at the problem you posed in your post. I've seen it sooo often. It's what I call a result of Churchianity. It works on the idea that humility is an emotion. There is no emotion involved in humility though. None at all. Look at the definition I posted at the start.
Humility is a decision to agree with GODs WORD and to align your life with that WORD. You do not pray for humility. GOD won't give it to you.
GOD said to humble yourself. JESUS gives an example;
Philippians 2:8
King James Version (KJV)
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Look at these verses
Matthew 23:12,
James 4:10,
1 Peter 5:6 You put on humility as you would put on your coat.
1 Peter 5:5
So that leaves the 'how' of it.
Look at how GOD says to honor the Sabbath....
Isaiah 58:11-14
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
11
Adonai will always guide you;
he will satisfy your needs in the desert,
he will renew the strength in your limbs;
so that you will be like a watered garden,
like a spring whose water never fails.
12 You will rebuild the ancient ruins,
raise foundations from ages past,
and be called “Repairer of broken walls,
Restorer of streets to live in.”
13 “If you hold back your foot on
Shabbat
from pursuing your own interests on my holy day;
if you call
Shabbat a delight,
Adonai’s holy day, worth honoring;
then honor it by not doing your usual things
or pursuing your interests or speaking about them.
14 If you do, you will find delight in
Adonai —
I will make you ride on the heights of the land
and feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Ya‘akov,
for the mouth of
Adonai has spoken.”
Look at verses 13-14 in particular. Here are the instructions on how to be humble. It also negates any kind of pride
