How will you finish?

So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king's table, and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, as long as he lived. 2 Kings 25:29-30 ESV

If you thought that the story of Jehoiachin ended with him being led off in chains to exile, you may have missed the story’s final chapter. While living in a foreign land, the king showed compassion on him and provided for him, giving him a peaceful ending to a tragic and failure-ridden life.

Some people lead lives that run in the right direction, making sound, responsible choices…until a point where they break apart, have an affair, abandon their responsibilities, or turn away from God. Starting on the right path isn’t a guarantee of a good finish. But a major detour—or ten—does not disqualify anyone from a strong finish.

Where are you right now? Are you on the right path, uncertain, or stuck on a detour? Regardless, turning to God and seeking the help of friends and mentors can help you stay the course, figure out your questions, or get you back on track. If there is hope for a king who was treated like a criminal at one point in his life, then there surely is hope for you in God’s mercy!

Prayer: Lord, help me to finish strong, to continue depending on You, and to bring You glory as I finish my course in this life.

I will finish crawling on my knees with my head between my hands and with absolutely nothing to be proud of and with absolutely nothing to offer, pleading "Lord, please have mercy, according to your great mercy, on a sinner like me." Hallelujah - praise the Lord God almighty. Amen.

Amen Brother! \o/
