How to make God smile
"Take your everyday, ordinary life... and place it before God as an offering... fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out." (Rom 12: 1-2) This is the heart of worship - a lifestyle devoted to pleasing your Heavenly Father, wanting to see God smile. Worship can be so much more than a song. Your whole life and all you do, say, and think, can break forth in beauty as a sweet song of praise to Jesus Christ your Lord. In the Psalms, David challenges us to, "Seek His face continually." In his letter to the church in Corinth, Paul comments, "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
This is the first of the five pillars to build your life upon - Worship. If your life is to have godly purpose it must be a life that truly pleases the heart of God. We know from Scripture that the Lord is pleased by our love, our trust, our praise, and our obedience. Over and over again He pleads with us to stop building our petty kingdoms and become a part of His. Again and again the Spirit calls us to surrender - yield our lives to Him.
Oh we try, but far too often we take back control of our lives. Out of fear, pride or just plain disbelief, we get back in the driver's seat and head down the path that "seems right to a man". When will we realize the truth of Jesus' words? "You can't serve two masters." Romans 12 is a call to a lifestyle of worship, where we are transformed in the image of Christ and our lives radiate His love. God be with us all...
