How to forgive

Here are few ideas about how to forgive.

1) Perfect forgiveness comes through Jesus, who compensated for the offenses we committed against Him by sacrificing His own life. In order to forgive, we must, therefore, surrender our will to God by desiring nothing except to do and accept His will.
2) Sacrifice our hurt and pride, just as Jesus humbled Himself and sacrificed His life for us, in order to bring forgiveness and healing to those who offend us.
3) Constantly remember that we are sinners who are forgiven by the sacrificial body and blood of Christ.
Please feel free to add some more.

The following is a summerization & combination of verses from the Bible.

Forgive as you would want others to forgive you.

-
Forgive somebody not 7 times, but 70x7.

:omg: I doubt most people have forgiven one person 490 times!

uh, .....rlowe, there is someone who I have forgiven at least 490 times....my ex-husband. But then, it's been a good lesson It has taught me to forgive well and forgive completely:love:

I don't mean to sound flippant about forgiveness. Forgiveness only can come as we ask God to enable us to forgive. And just because you forgive the person....doesn't cause them to stop doing to you what you had to forgive them for in the first place. But we must come clean with God, because our own sin awaits....to be forgiven by God.

God bless every one of you. Don't go to bed at night if you're holding a grudge against anyone. Forgive, before you lie down at night.

At what point do we stand up for what we believe is right or forgive others and accept whats happened?

Is it impossible with God's help to forgive yet still stand up for what you believe is right?

Forgiveness is not acceptance of what someone did.

I believe forgiveness is acknowledgement that what we did to Christ is worse than what someone did to us,
yet Christ forgave us.

So how can we refuse to forgive them with God's help?

Seven, ten, & multiples of either in the Bible indicate completeness.

So when God said to forgive 70x7, He meant complete forgiving numberous times.

If we keep count of how many times we have to forgive somebody, then we should keep count of how many times God has forgiven us.
