Ever wonder why God made you the way that he did?? Well I certainly have! My sister says I have enough “little quirks” for seven people, but the truth is we all have those little things that make us…us! We have all been blessed with certain gifts, quirks, and abilities that help us to bring Glory to our lord! And in the end it doesn’t matter what you look like, where you live, or what your “little quirks” are, we are all here with for one purpose and one purpose alone, and that is to honor the one who saved us! So I’m here to tell you, how you can use even the craziest “quirks” to show him your love.
First we have…
#1- Being in charge- if you are anything like me one of your “little quirks” is being in charge that is one of the hardest things I have had to give up…when I excepted Christ I was allowing him to be Lord over my life. But I struggle all the time with this. I am constantly going back and “taking my life into my own hands” when he’s the one who needs to be in charge. One very important thing I’ve learned is…
When you are in charge of your own life…bad things happen!!!!…
I like to think of Jonah…he decided to run away from God and do his own thing instead of doing what God wanted….yeah…in case you didn’t know, he ended up in the belly of a whale…But God gives us opportunities to be in charge, and set a good example for others! If you are like me and you like to be in charge, you have been given an amazing opportunity of leadership.
God can use you in any way he wants! When you are “in Charge” he’s put you in a place of leadership he is giving you the chance to make a difference in the lives of others! It’s your responsibility to step up to the plate, and except the challenge. With his help all things are possible!
Next is…
#2- Doing things with enthusiasm- which I have found can be good… and it can be bad…I am an extremely enthusiastic person! I am constantly going! I love being crazy, and being happy all the time. I have a very loud and “out there” personality. And as my family puts it I do everything with “gusto”. I am constantly “in another world” and I break things all the time, because I just won’t slow down. Though this is a good attitude to have on life…it is not something that should be practiced relentlessly. (In other words, you need to know when enough is enough!!)
This verse is clearly telling me (and those of you who might struggle with this) that if we are going, going, going, constantly, we are going to miss things in this life that the Lord is trying to show us! If we go to fast we are going to miss his directions, and we are going to get totally lost!
In this next verse we see how “gusto” can be a good thing
God wants us to have gusto for him!! He wants us to do everything that we do, with all our hearts, for his glory!!
Last but not least…
#3- Being a perfectionist- there is no doubt about it…I am a perfectionist. Everything I do I want to be just perfect! And when It’s not…I stress….and stress isn’t good!!
Wooaaa now!!!! I’m not perfect???? Nooo wayyy!!! Tell me it isn’t true!!!!
….oh but it is….nobody’s perfect…not even me…this is extremely hard for me to admit…But it still doesn’t take away that desire for everything to be just the way I want it to be. And as I read, I find out there is really nothing wrong with that desire to be perfect. (Just as long as you don’t let it get to your head
In fact God actually encourages it. Even with the awareness that it will never happen, he still wants us to desire to be more like him, and he is most undoubtedly perfect in every way!
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on you to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Paul wasn’t perfect and neither are you and me!
“But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is a head, I press on you toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” In not being perfect we are going to mess up. But we shouldn’t dwell on the past we should continue to move forward, except God’s forgiveness, and keep going!!
“All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.” This is how we should view life. Working everyday to be more like our Lord, who is perfect!
God know good and well that we will never be perfect. But our imperfection, just makes God seem that much more amazing!!!!!!
We are all given different gifts, talents, and quirks. You could be a control freak, you could be crraazzyy, you could be someone striving for perfection in everything! Or you could be all three like me
We don’t always know why God made us the way he did, but we know one thing is for sure, he made us that way for a specific purpose.
Jonah had his way of doing things, and I’m sure some of those people in Nineveh thought he was crazy! Paul definitely had his differences, but he wasn’t afraid to admit that he wasn’t perfect! Even Jesus had his “little quirks”, when he was on the earth, and lots of people resented him for it. we are all different. So instead of wondering why God made you the way that he did. Except the fact that you are who you are. In the end, no matter how different we are we are all put on this earth for one purpose and one purpose alone and that is to do Gods will and bring him glory! And you want to know something?!?...you can do that, just by being yourself!
