I personally have been struggling for years with a short temper, been to church, read the bible, been on medication it has only started getting better now but how can i have a guarantee that i will be able to keep myself in check. has anyone suffered from temper issues and overcame them. how did you do it?

I have done some prayer ministry training, I am not very experienced but I have a few ideas that might be of assistance to you. Would you like to PM me? Or see me in chat sometime? Best wishes with this however you choose to go about it. I will mention you in my prayers tonight.

Tatianatashie,

Anger and rage is oftentimes the result of something deeper in the heart that hasn't been dealt with (root issues that may be stemmed from past experiences in one's life, which took 'root' in the heart, as a result of how we may have handled it when the incident occurred...whether it was the way God wanted us to handle it or not). Also, if it runs in the family, it can also be a root because of that. It sounds as if there needs to be some form of deliverance healing that needs to occur with the Holy Spirit leading you through it, to get rid of the roots that may have caused this to manifest. I can a suggest a book that might help you understand this more of what I am talking about. It's called, "Anger - How Do You Handle It?" by Paul and Liz Griffin. Allow the Lord to help you through this and minister to you about what He needs to have you understand and do, in order that you can break free from this bondage completely and fully.

Tatianatashie,

That's unfortunate you had to go through all that. Those types of experiences in one's life could really do some damage within someone and could definitely have an effect on how you respond to things. The disappointment you have that there was nothing you could do about it, could have allowed for forms of resentment, unforgiveness, and bitterness to work into one's heart...which would also be part of the culprits of anger and rage too. Even though we have grown up in own lives, sometimes there are things we have not dealt with completely within ourselves from those experiences. I believe the Lord's wanting you to address these things within your heart because He doesn't want you to be tempted into handling any other situations wrongly in the future...as this can lead to hurting you more than what you've already experienced. In addition, it will effect your relationship with Him...your growth to be all you were called to be from the beginning, by and through Him. The Lord wants to help heal you, teach you about how to overcome these temptations and tactics, and bring a better way of life into what you have encountered so that you may live as He destined you to (a new life in Christ). (Jer. 17:10; Psalm 139:1; Isa. 61:1; Luke 4:18; Psalm 147:3; Ezek. 36:26; 2 Cor. 5:17; 2 Cor. 1:22-23).

My friends in Alcoholics Anonymous have a saying that bears repeating here: "There is One who has all power; that One is God, may you find Him now!" Its God's power that heals us, not ours.
