Hi everyone..

Ok, so, I JUST got saved and joined a church, after wanting to and thinking about it for a long time.

I also live in a really small-everyone-knows-everyones-business town.
So, of course everyone knows that I recently found God.

I know, I'm not perfect, and I'm trying really hard to stop taking Gods name in vain, and swearing.

So, tonight, I went to the store with my boyfriend who is visiting for the weekend, and my friends little sister came upto me, and pulled me aside and asked "Hey, Ash, are you a christian now?" and I said "yeah, I am.." and She said "Well, my brother said when you called for JC that you said 'are you F****** serious? when he told you should be home for good on monday..."

I'm in shock. First of all, I know I didnt say that. I usually using 'effing' instead of the f-word, even before i got saved. i might have said friggen or effin but... i know I didnt say the f word.

Im also SO hurt, that they would sit around and discuss my profanity and short comings in relation to my religion...

I know this isnt the last I've heard of this sort of thing either.

How do you all deal with this?

ashalee,

the Lord loves you and celebrated with the throng of heaven when you accepted Him into your life

others may hurt you, others may despise you, and what they say and do may get to you. please remember what the Lord said about this

Matthew 5:10-12
blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
"blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

as you walk with our Lord you will surely get insults a plenty, i know i have

they used to hurt me, now i just turn to them and thank them, and i offer them the blessings of our Lord

God bless

Born Again

No one is you judge, not even you. Born-Again is just as it was the first time, it is a growing process after you are reborn, no one is without sin but christians know they can be forgiven and try not to sin. I myself have been born-again for as long as I can remember and I have gotten better and better over the years. My latest battle is with not saying "freaken". When I have caught myself in the past saying things I shouldn't I attempt to substitute something I should say like "bless it" example instead of saying, as I did, "freaken puddle", I would say "bless it." I hope this help you. As for others pointing the finger at you and trying to make you feel guilty about being christian, you might just mention to them that finding faults with others is not the christian way but building them up in that which is good is. Everything I read above in replies here to your post is also very good advice. We only need to answer to God and he is all ready our answer for us.

Dear sister - it will take time for you and others to adjust. The greatest example is given in doing the simple things in life in a Christian fashion. This in turn will earn respect for your position.Often those criticising would love to have your courage. On the profanity side I was present when a much respected pastor dropped a heavy piece of iron on his foot and boy did the air turn blue!! So it happens and it is superficial. The real discovery within is your bond with our Saviour.People will respect that in time. May God give you strength.

people like to critise christians. I find four months after I became a christian I still have to struggle not to use bad language, especialy when I am on the motorway in peak hour traffic... Take it to God and ask his forgiveness when you find you slip up, but remember where God will chastise and gentlely reprimand, Satan seeks to condem and judge and point the finger

If someone comments on that again, just tell em, "I am amazing, but I have yet to master the art of perfection' or words to that effect, we as christians will struggle with stuff like this, till the day we go home to be with God
