Hi Sadeyes, don't get too concerned, as I said, it does takes time. You have plenty of time. The whole Bible is there for you, but only God can reveal it to you and by doing that you do need the Holy Spirit, that's why I asked, if you had received the Holy Spirit yet. For you to understand the scriptures and for them to speak to you and your heart and to hear God's voice you do need the Holy Spirit, there is no other way. God is there waiting for you.

So if you have'n't received the Holy Spirit yet, you need to go down that route first. Go to prayer and speak to the Father, in prayer speak to Him, open up your heart to Him, talk about your sins to Him and how sorry you are, say you want Jesus as your Lord and saviour and you want Jesus to send you the Holy Comforter (Spirit) Jesus will pray to the Father for you, for you to receive the Holy Spirit.

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

We are here to help you and guide you.

Word of Life. The Holy Spirit is a person not an it. When we ask Jesus to be our Lord and Saviour the Holy Spirit comes and lives within our hearts. We receive Him at salvation.

However, we can ask the Holy Spirit to guide us each day and help us in our walk with Jesus. He is indeed our comforter among other things.

John 14

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?"

23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

25 "All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I appreciate your kindness and your reply, but this is a totally new angle to my question - receiving the Holy Spirit??

I'm too tired and overwhelmed to take anything else on board at the moment.
