It is said in the book of hebrews that Jesus christ has become our high priest, how does he become our hight?

What did he do to become our high priest? Does he deserve it? Explain the reason.

God bless u all.

Peter.

Jesus has been given full authority from God.

Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Mar 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

God has given Jesus all power in Heaven and on the Earth.

Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Only Jesus was obedient to our Father and did our Fathers will. No one else has been that obedient.

1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

I fully believe that when Jesus was crucified he destroyed all man made churches. He knew they were leading people astray and further away from God. So he built his church, which is a spiritual one. And only he is the high priest of that church. It's through Jesus' total obedience that he has been given this position of high priest. And it's only through Jesus' blood that all our sins can be washed away.

Do a google search on the "The Church Jesus Built" (GNMagazine). You can send for this little booklet, or you can read it online. It's well worth reading and it will open up your eyes to some truths.

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Act 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Act 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

The temple in the above verse, we are the temple:

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Hebrews 7
1For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

2To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

3Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

4Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

5And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

7And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

8And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

9And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

11If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

15And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

17For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

18For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

20And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

21(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

27Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

28For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

I believe this Melchizedek, (Hebrew; King of Righteousness) King Of Salem,(peace) is Jesus. Who else could He be, with these titles?
Why would Abraham give Him a tithe?
Notice also in Genesis ch14:18, Melchizedek also gave Abraham bread and wine! The Lords supper, (Communion)

He was called of God:
Hebrews 5:4

And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron

He was subject to the same temptation as we are:
Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

The high priest made atonement for the people- Christ made the one and final God appeasing propitiation of sin in His obedient death on the cross.
Lev. 16:33
And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

Christ satisfies God's justice:
Romans 3:24-28
24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law

He pacified God's wrath:
Romans 5:9
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

He justifies the sinner:
Romans 5:!
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

He sanctifies the believer
1Cor 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Hope this helps

Peter.
According to Easton's Bible Dictionary, "Priest" denotes one who offers sacrifices (Hebrew - kohnen, Greek - hierus, Latin - sacerdos).

The priestly system of the Jews was a shadow of the body of Christ. The priests all prefigured the great Priest (Jesus) who offered "one sacrifice for sins....once for all." (Heb 10:10)

For an explanation of why he has the title of High Priest, see Philippians 2: 6-11. In my opinion, that citation explains it all.
