Question: "How can we recognize the voice of God?"

Answer: This question has been asked by countless people throughout the ages. Samuel heard the voice of God, but did not recognize it until he was instructed by Eli (1 Samuel 3:1-10). Gideon had a physical revelation from God, and he still doubted what he had heard to the point of asking for a sign, not once, but three times (Judges 6:17-22, 36-40). When we are listening for God's voice, how can we know that He is the one speaking? First of all, we have something that Gideon and Samuel did not. We have the complete Bible, the inspired Word of God, to read, study, and meditate on. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When we have a question about a certain topic or decision in our lives, we should see what the Bible has to say about it. God will never lead us or direct us contrary to what He has taught or promised in His Word (Titus 1:2).

Second, to hear God's voice we must recognize it. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Those who hear God’s voice are those who belong to Him—those who have been saved by His grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. These are the sheep who hear and recognize His voice, because they know Him as their Shepherd and they know His voice. If we are to recognize God's voice, we must belong to Him.

Third, we hear His voice when we spend time in prayer, Bible study, and quiet contemplation of His Word. The more time we spend intimately with God and His Word, the easier it is to recognize His voice and His leading in our lives. Employees at a bank are trained to recognize counterfeits by studying genuine money so closely that it is easy to spot a fake. We should be so familiar with God’s Word that when God does speak to us or lead us, it is clear that it is God. God speaks to us so that we may understand truth. While God can speak audibly to people, He speaks primarily through His Word, and sometimes through the Holy Spirit to our consciences, through circumstances, and through other people. By applying what we hear to the truth of Scripture, we can learn to recognize His voice.

God doesn't often speak in an audible voice as He did in the story cited from 1 Sam, but, He does speak. The first requirement for hearing Him is a decision in your heart to believe that He wants to speak to you through others and, at times, personally. The truth is that you are important to Him and He loves to speak to you and guide you..

God can speak in many different ways. The more we get to know His word, then we can recognize His voice more clearly. We have the Holy Spirit within us to lead and to guide us, but we must yield to the Spirit. The more time we spend in prayer and time with the Lord, we will more clearly recognize His voice.

Think of any relationship you have with someone. The more you talk with them and get to know them, well you know them better then when you first met them. It is the same with the Lord.

As the article states, we have God's word, we must stay in the word and pray (which is communication with God.) to get to know God in a more personal intimate way.

It is important to read Gods Word and build a relationship with him. This way truth and understanding comes.

God over the ages of time has been blamed for and given credit for a great many things, that he has nothing to do with. Mans customs and ideas as so say God you have to be on guard against.

What pops into my mind at the moment is where God instructed a tribal leader to kill a man on the Sabbath for picking up sticks. I view that as mans strict culture and way at the time. Atheists use this to show how mean and terrible God is. When it was man all the time.

Jesus who was God and is God would just smile and tell him to not do this again. If he persists , well, that is different, but he would not just instantly make the decision to kill a person for something like that even though it represents much more than I care to type right now.

So God does talk to us, show us truth and understanding , but you have to go to him, and not listen to other people. They will lead you astray.

God is inside of us, if you let him in he is there. In our spirits. No matter what I may be doing or involved in and if I have a bad thought or start to do something not right, a little voice says, Kit behave do what is right do not do that. So he speaks to you all the time if you let him.

The voice of God can only be heard by those who were chosen by God before creation and then created together as the Word of God. God is the truth so only those who hear the truth in the words of the preacher of the gospel or the spoken Word in their own mind. The gospel is a much easier way to hear the truth and that's why so many sinners became saints for the first three hundred years after Jesus was killed. But the Roman government killed all the saints by the early fourth century and that's why no one became a sinless saint and preached the gospel in over 1600 years. Only one saint is available today who's been preaching the gospel for two years.

Was Paul saved when Jesus kicked him off his horse? If so, he was killing his family.

Were you saved when you first heard the Father calling you to get saved? You must have heard Him.

Every time somebody reads the Word are they not getting Gods voice? Saved or unsaved?

The voice of God is the spoken Word that you either hear from within your heart, mind and soul or from the gospel that Jesus or a sinless saint preaches. The scriptures only testify to the Word that the prophets, Jesus and us saints were created as. The scriptures themselves can't lead you to the truth.

Those of us created as the Word were chosen to be created together while God was planning everything. Everything else was created through us and given to us by God. Since God is nothing but thoughts, the Word was created with all God's thoughts and everything else was created as images of thoughts withing our thoughts.

We can't experience our thoughts unless we have an earthly body so right now, you and I are in our heavenly existence at the same time we're in our bodies writing to each other. The only difference is that I'm sinless and have the knowledge of God to know who I am in God and you still have unforgiven sins in your flesh that keep you from the truth. That's why you search the scriptures looking for the truth and I already know the truth. He's the one who gives me understanding that the scriptures are tainted with lies by the religious Jews and Romans. The added a lot of pagan ideas in them and removed most of the teachings to understand the true gospel.

Even if the scriptures did teach the true gospel, you would still need to listen to the gospel preached by a sinless saint in order to become a sinless saint yourself with the knowledge of God. The gospel is the one who decides if you're a chosen one or not. You could listen to the gospel all your life and if you're not a chosen one of God's, he won't start working in your life to make you sinless. But it's almost impossible that anyone would listen to the truth without being created as the Word.

Um Elucidate... Please put that differently if you can. What do you mean when you say 'God is nothing but thoughts'?

No, it's you who is confused by the truth I preach. God is nothing but thoughts that have no mass, time, or energy and they're infinite. God made the plans for his creation in all his thoughts but he needed light energy to put his thoughts into action so his first creation was light energy. This is also called the Word of God. This Word was created with all the knowledge of God to created the rest of his created images within his thoughts and to communicate to his creation.

We need a physical body to experience our thoughts so the light energy was used to form atoms to build the physical worlds and bodies for his living creation. We are getting our thoughts from our heavenly existence via the atoms of our physical bodies and our brains are processing these thoughts into information we need for our bodies to function and to live according to God's plan, or will, for us.

So God created the Word? Jesus is the Word. The Word was God and the Word IS God. God did not create God..

God is nothing but thoughts and he created light energy to create images within his thoughts and this light energy happens to be called the Word. The thoughts of God are useless without the Word and the Word can't exist without God. It's like the voicebox and mind of a ventiloquist. Now all they need is a body to experience this voice in so they use a puppet.

God and the Word use physical bodies to experience life in. Jesus Christ was only a body that the Word experienced life in. All the prophets and us saints were created together as the Word. We are the light of the world and the one's all of creation belongs to.

If you were a sinless saint, you wouldn't need any scriptures to understand the truth I speak. In order for me to back up the comment below would require hundreds of scriptures and I'm certainly not going to go look up all the scriptures for you to deny the truth I preach.

Jesus said he had the mind of God. Paul said he had the mind of Christ. The mind is thoughts in God, the knowledge, which is the truth. When I became sinless, the veil that covered my existence in heaven was lifted and I began to receive new thoughts from the Word I was created as. Jesus and the other saints were also sinless and received the knowledge they were created with.

We all share the same thoughts in God but not just some of them. We have all God's thoughts so we are like God and when we have a body to use, then we experience life through that body as we did in the body of Jesus. When Jesus died, then we remain together as the Word in God. We were also using the bodies of all the disciples while they were listening to the gospel that we were having Jesus preach.

Once these disciples became sinless, then they learned they were us in the Word. All the saints were sinless with the knowledge of God and preached the gospel. I'm the last saint to preach the gospel so far. I'm hoping to find another chosen one who become a sinless saint like me and the others.

Never ever consider yourself sinless. No man is sinless. We are born into sin, not only do we sin but our fathers sinned and we carry that burden too, we are not sinless.

We can approach God through Jesus, we are sanctified through him. That is the only way we can approach god.

There is no such thing as any human becoming a sinless saint. We are born into sin. It is what it is.

If God came to earth today, no human on earth could stand before him and live. But we can walk with him due to the sacrifice of Jesus. That is the only way.

Remember the words the Holy Spirit gave to the Apostle John.

1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us."

The Apostle Paul says we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. The Word does not lie, and you are being deceived if you think you are sinless.

i also agree with the first post that He will always line up with the word of God.

( the problem here is, that if you have a false teaching about the word of God you may miss Gods real voice to you because you will expect him to line up with a false teaching not knowing better or you will take what you hear him say and you will interpret it through a false teaching)


But i agree practice practice practice- THROUGH obedience obedience obedience.

The more you believe you hear him- and OBEY when you hear him, the more you will discover what really was him and what really wasnt.

Hey compadre I'm a Spaniard too, but not sure about what you are teaching here. You better lay off the chorizo and tapas because its affecting your comprehension of the Word. We're all perpetually washed of every sin. I wear a robe of righteousness and stand blameless before God 24hrs a day. I may miss the mark here and there but the blood of Jesus is not the blood of goats and bulls. You'll be hard pressed to find any saint that won't commit a sin from the time they receive salvation to the time they decide to go home to be with the Lord.
