His Candle ( In Memory of Herb )
Their was a man that lit a candle in a room everywhere he went
Even in the church parking lot during a special event parking cars
Wasn’t the flash light in his hand but the bright smile on his face
Every room this man left the candle he lit stayed behind forever
Every hand shake he gave the smile of Christ never left his face
This was the mark he left with that hand shake like that of Christ
Then one day the doctors told him of the cancer in his body
He fought and fought the cancer that was eating him away
But He refused to let go the smile that Christ gave him
The cancer might take away his strength but not his faith in Christ
He didn’t see cancer as dying but His chance to let Christ shine
And did Christ ever shine living through this man’s final days
Don’t cry this man wouldn’t want us to cry but to smile back
Yes it’s sad that he left behind a wife, three kids and a grandchild
But Christ took him home and receiving His crown of life
When standing at this mans funeral through tears of sadness
Just look up and smile back at the man smiling down at you
He may have left the world but His candle is still lit in you
Now is the time to light candles of our own not just for him
But for the Christ that lived inside this man that lit candles
With his smile, look close in the stars we can still see his light
