Lots of places to start and to read and along with all of them pray. Here is one starting place:
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil." Prov 3:5-7
You need a good study Bible. I recommend the Old Scofield Study Bible. Read the Gospel of John...4th book in the New Testament. When your done reading that, go back to the book of Genesis, first book of the Bible, and start reading it, and don't stop till you get to the end of Revelation. It will probably take you a couple of years, but who cares. Then when your done there, you go back to Genesis and start again and you continue this repetition reading the rest of your life.
Being born-again means your spirit is now made alive unto God. You have eternal life whereas before your spirit was dead to God and you were on your way to eternal separation from God. All of which is only possible if you place faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Saviour.
Welcome to Talk Jesus @Speedbump
Glad you've stopped by. As the name of the site implies. We're about Talking about Jesus!
The bottom line is knowing that Jesus lived, died on the Cross, and Rose Again, for the purpose of reuniting the World with God.
Knowing this in and of itself is but the starting point to God's Saving Grace.
Sounds simple enough, but then again we have thousands upon thousands of threads/postings that deal directly or indirectly on the subject. Even what it means to be "Born Again"!
Here's a few links that I hope will explain some stuff that you might only be aware of peripherally. And please feel free to ask questions of those who call Jesus Lord, but also Friend.
Born again is a term that is used by a lot of professing Christians these days. When Jesus is talking to Nicodemus (John 3:1-21) He tells him unless he is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. He is telling him that unless he receives the teachings of Jesus like a little child that he will not understand them. If when you read the teachings of Jesus you read them like He is your teacher and you are going to do whatever He says, then you are accepting them as a little child. Because children are eager to learn and willing to be taught. You cannot be taught if you are full of pride and self righteousness.
