To all my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ - Hello !

I'm a UK based Christian who writes a few hymns (just over 3,000 to date) but I need to tell you that these are all in the traditional manner of 'words only'. In fact, you could argue a lot of what I write is poetry, but hey, let's not split hairs !

Thought I'd register on the boards here, see what's going on and also ask if anyone has some great music they have been inspired to compose, perhaps we can share ?
Just now, I'm looking for a tune in 8.8.8.6 meter, rising on the third line, and finishing on the fourth with 'We serve a mighty God'.

Anyway, that's a little about me - why am I a Christian ? Because in the mid nineties I decided to commit suicide and God stepped in - to anyone out there who feels like taking their life - DON'T - God DOES have a plan for you - I am living proof of His faithfulness.

Blessings to all

Simon

Dear Simon

Welcome to these forums. I have found them very spiritually enriching since registering in June.

Praise God that you found Him in your hour of deepest despair. He is indeed a God who miraculously saves.

As a piano/organ player I find Just as I am a lovely 8.8.8.6 hymn. Maybe an arrangement of that would be fitting. (Not that I am any good at writing words and fitting them to music... so just a thought.)

Every Blessing

Praise the Lord for answers !!

Well, second reply from Julie and the hint that 'Just As I Am' might fit - a bit of a tweak of the last line and here, for all to share, enjoy etc is the completed thing.
To the tune of Just As I Am:

We serve a God whose gift is free.
Who reaches down to you and me.
Who shares with us His victory.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God who came to save,
And give us life beyond the grave.
And now to sin we’re not a slave.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God of joy and peace,
Whose sacrifice was our release.
A God whose love can never cease.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God who reigns on high,
Who formed the earth, and sea, and sky.
Who power is seen by every eye.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God who’s life and love,
Who tends us from His throne above.
Who sees the best in all of us.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God of pure delight,
Who keeps us close within His sight,
To give us strength to fight the fight.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God and only One:
The truth of life from times long gone.
The future bright where He shines on.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

We serve a God we love to praise,
Whose Hand of love can still amaze,
As all are called into His ways.
We serve, we serve a mighty God.

Enjoy !!!

Blessings

Thank you Simon....

you can keep them rolling in brother!

But send them to the Poetry Forum
Poetry - Talk Jesus

or Musicians
Musicians - Talk Jesus

you'll find these if you scoll down the page a bit. I would say that your Hymns would be encouraging in response to quite a few different subjects, too.

Thanks for sharing, brother ....><>

Welcome N.H.A

Appreciate your poem. As you say such words would make a good song. You will be aware that past Christian renaissance, was bourn on the wing of the spiritual song.

Praising Jesus, lifting hIs Name in the song, is the ultimate way of lifting up Jesus. I enjoy the song of the LOrd

Welcome to you dear brother, You will find wonderful people and fellowship here.
