Note 1: The Lake of Fire and Gehenna are the same place. Lake of Fire is Revelation symbolism. The phrase, "Lake of Fire" doesn't appear in any book except Revelation. John doesn't use the term in either his Gospel or his letters. This suggests to me that the term was given to him during the vision that is Revelation.

Note 2: Gehenna - This is simply Gee-hinnom, "valley of Hinnom," translated into Greek letters· This valley was situated in the neighborhood of Jerusalem, and originally was noted for the infamous rites practiced there in the worship of Moloch, in the times of the idolatrous kings of Judah.

If we also go to Dan 12:2 and Matt 25:46, we see that Olam and Aionios do not mean forever..

Dan 12:2/Hebrew Word Meanings - Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

Matt 25:46/Aionios - Greek doesn't really have a word to describe that so the translators of the Septuagint used the Greek word "aionion" which is the adjective form of the word "aion" which means an age. In Mathew 25:46 Jesus used "aionios" again an adjective from "aion". The reason I say it is mistranslated is because both Olam and aionion are used of things that end. Things that end are not eternal.

Eternal life however is forever..

None of these verses prove that hell is not eternal. Hell is in fact eternal. So is Heaven. So is God. So are we (souls).

What happens to those who go to hell if it's not eternal? Scripture doesn't say because it does amply say that hell is in fact eternal.

"And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the eternal fire,"(Matt. 18:8).

The supposition that God will ultimately secure the repentance and restoration of all sinners is equally unscriptural. There is not the slightest trace in all the Scriptures of any such restoration. Sufferings of themselves have no tendency to purify the soul from sin or impart spiritual life. The atoning death of Christ and the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit are the only means of divine appointment for bringing men to repentance. Now in the case of them that perish these means have been rejected, and "there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins" (Heb. 10:26, 27).

I read it, and many others like it over the years from Unitarians and Mormons.
But you have it backwards. Also you left out verse with Sheol and Hades. Yes these are places that physically exist.
But they have these names because of they were thought to be hot and uncomfortable "similar to hell", not the other way around.
Gehenna is not the lake of fire. But they share the same "nickname" of sorts.

The "Lake of Fire" is a spiritual fire which is physical. Spiritual, like a spiritual body which is indestructible, i.e the Lord's present body He is now in, and which all will also inherit; physical, i.e material; natural. "There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body" (1Cor 15:44).

That which is natural (physical; material) does not have the properties of the spiritual (incorruptible; indestructible--1Cor 15:42). A fire which is spiritual (physically indestructible) can never be quenched (Mar 9:43-46), nor can a spiritual body (with which all will be resurrected) "die" (corrupt; destruct).

When we die, we go before God. He takes one look and those who have Jesus in them go to the right and heaven. The ones who don't have Christ in them, go to the left and hell.
What is the purpose of salvation. To save. To save from what? To save from eternal hell and damnation.

I wanted to add that I would submit that the Lake of Fire is going to be part of the Dead sea. Gehenna, the valley of Hinnom would be in the vicinity of the Lake.

Note 1: The Lake of Fire is around the vicinity of Gehenna, in the Dead Sea. Lake of Fire is Revelation symbolism. The phrase, "Lake of Fire" doesn't appear in any book except Revelation. John doesn't use the term in either his Gospel or his letters. This suggests to me that the term was given to him during the vision that is Revelation.

The word eternal (regarding death/perishing) is mentioned numerous times in the bible. It was quoted in this thread. The bible is abundantly clear. Hell is eternal, despite your disbelief. I suggest using a study bible with Scofield's Reference Notes to assist you. You're the only one here who thinks Hell is not eternal.

Here's a question for you. WHEN do they get destroyed, perish and be consumed after this so-called temporary hell?

I've been listening to highly respected, reputable preachers for years now including Billy Graham, Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah and Derek Prince. They all believe in the truth, that hell is eternal and preach that truth. I recommend you listen to their sermon podcasts.

What does that have to do with anything? over and over and over and over again the bible says that the wicked will suffer for eternity. It is our duty to faithfully preach God's word as He has delivered it to us. It is not for us to water down or alter or interpret His word according to our own opinions.

And will burn forever, so how a child of God walk on their ashes there, the place we walk on the ashes of the wicked, is after the second resurrection, when fire from heaven comsumes them.
