Heat and shade

[Anglican]

It's very hot, it's stifling
And I feel so oppressed
The world is burning round me
I'm feeling overdressed
So I retreat into the shade
Where coolness welcomes me
In peace and calm where I can sit
Is where I want to be.

To gaze upon the fringe of hell
Whilst sitting in the cool
Reminds me that I'm safe and sound
I could have been the fool
Who chose to stay in searing heat
And suffer like the rest
Being here with Jesus Christ
Shows that I know best.
