……healing from backsliding???....

Yes one can heal from backsliding. It might be tough and difficult process indeed because the same temptations which lead you into backsliding are ever present and the choice is yours to stand and fight the good fight and never give in to the devils pressures. What the devil wants you to do is to just sin against the word of GOD that it may be profaned. To him it is good that way. Let us get this devil out of the way. It is not God’s will nor desire to destroy the sinner. Far be it from HIM. Ezekiel 18 vs 31-32says; “cast away from you all your transgressions you have sinned against me and get yourself a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die….. I have no pleasure in the death of anyone…. Turn to me and live”. The LORD wants every sinner to come back and live Ezekiel 18 vs 30ff.

The LORD has got an amazing unending love for everyone even as they continue to do bad. He wants them to turn. Ask the LORD to heal you according to Isaiah 1 vs 2 – 6. This is an indeed powerful scripture. I remember it when my brother [Dawn] at home read and it was quite touching, deep down to the soul as he was growing from strength to strength in the LORD. He was learning to trust GOD it was wonderful and amazing. This scripture on Isaiah ch 1 calls back all that have gone astray. It even asks why one continues to rebel. Besides Jeremiah 3 vs 13 says; “they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters”. The LORD wants us to heal from the actions of our backsliding. Tell yourself the truth when you are backsliding. much more scripture is available on backsliding.

Godly Guys Gossip God's Glory:secret:

Luk 15:17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!
Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
Luk 15:19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."'
Luk 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
Luk 15:21 And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
Luk 15:22 But the father said to his servants, 'Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.
Luk 15:23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate.
Luk 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate.

OUR GOD IS A HEALING GOD, A GOD OF GRACE AND LOVE AND HE WILL ACCEPT AND HEAL ANYONE WHO WANTS TO RETURN AFTER THEY WENT ASTRAY!

Thanks for the post it is very important that people realize that God is waiting and longing for those who turned away from Him to come back.

Blessings!

Repentance

I have struggled with two troublesome thoughts during my Christian life:
1. I might fall so badly one day that I lose my salvation, and
2. I have already backslidden too much and can't be saved again.

The first is for another thread, though suffice to say I now believe I am secure.
The second I have had real trouble with, although again I am confident in that Scripture teaches that I am saved.
Thank you for this thread, there are so many references to repentance and "re-repentance" in the Old Testament, of which you touched on a few.

I would like to add 2 Pet 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." KJV, emphasis mine.

It is quite amazing to note that this promise comes in a letter that can be read as being quite harsh as much of it is directed in regard to false teaching and teachers, with much rebuke to such false teachers.

I would also refer you to 2 Chr 30:6 and 30:9
And in the New Testament: Heb 4:15-16.

Mark of Faith.
