In Genesis 2:7, it says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.”

That breath represents far more than physical air — it is the Spirit and Wisdom of God entering humanity. The Hebrew word ruach means both breath and spirit. When God breathed into Adam, divine consciousness was awakened within him. The Word of God — the truth — gives life to the soul.

When Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let them hear,” He was speaking of this inner hearing — the ability to receive truth and awaken to divine understanding. True hearing happens in the mind and the heart, not merely through the physical ear.

The resurrection is this same process — not only a future event, but a spiritual awakening that takes place within the mind. When a person receives divine truth and remembers who they truly are in God’s image, they rise from a dead level to an upright, living state.

Spiritual death occurs when a person forgets the divine knowledge of themselves — when they live in darkness, separated from the truth of their origin. But when the breath (spirit) of God returns through understanding, the soul revives.

This is why Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
To know truth is to awaken — to resurrect in mind and spirit, becoming once again a living soul in the image and likeness of God.
