"Come now, let's settle this," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. Isaiah 1:18 NLT
It’s not a pleasant experience to be in a place in life where it seems like sin is getting the best of us. It can give us a sense of hopelessness, and we can come to a point where we can’t imagine God ever wanting to hear from us again.
But, as the Bible repeatedly promises, it doesn’t have to be that way for the man who has trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Think of it this way: If your child made a big mess of himself and desperately needed to be cleaned up, would you tell him, “Forget you! You’re on you own!”? Of course not! The first thing you’d do is clean up his mess. Then comes a time of correction and teaching.
Our heavenly Father does the same thing with us when we sin—and He does it willingly and joyfully!
The Bible tells us that God hates all sin. But it also teaches that He doesn’t abandon us when we fall but instead cleanses us and forgives us when we confess our wrongdoing.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son so that my heart could be purified and made acceptable to You. Help me to run to You when I sin, not away from You.
