Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations-- let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah Psalm 66:5-7 ESV
Perhaps one of the greatest challenges to living by faith is ignorance of what God has already done for others. The people of Israel were often reminded of God’s past deeds and powerful deliverance so that they wouldn’t turn to other gods or other sources of comfort. Monuments, feast days, stories, and the writings of scripture were a few of the ways the people kept the past actions of God on their minds.
You can read what God has done in scripture and also remember what God has done for you and for others. Once you see the mercy of God and His desire to be present for those who call out in faith, you’ll meet the highs and lows of life with thoughts of God’s past power. In your heart you can trust that God will be with you just as He has been with the faithful in past generations.
Prayer: Lord, help me to remember the ways You’ve remained close to Your people and saved them from their trials and hardships.
