Behold, God [is] my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For YAH, the LORD, [is] my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.' " Isaiah 12:2 NKJV
Life has a way of putting through fearful times. Problems in our marriages, conflicts with our kids, issues at work, and health difficulties can all put any man in a place where he feels afraid, anxious, and stressed out.
Fear is a natural part of life in this fallen world. But we Christian men can live the abundant life Jesus promised when we learn how to handle our fears in a way that honors God.
In today’s verse, the prophet Isaiah states that he will choose to trust God and not be afraid—or at least not to surrender to his fears. Centuries later, the apostle Paul gave New Testament voice to this attitude when he wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
When life gives you reason to feel afraid, it can be a huge help to remember two things: God is in control…and He has promised to comfort you and give you peace when you take your fears to Him.
Prayer: Father in heaven, when my heart feels overwhelmed with fear, help me to remember to turn to You.
