Good out of the Bad
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - I Thessalonians 5:18. During a recent Kansas City Chiefs football game apparent disaster struck Mickey Pheleger (sp?) who was a photographer on the sideline. A 237-pound tight end was shoved out of bounds and into Mickey. The photographer was slammed to the ground and lost consciousness. A couple of minutes later Mickey regained consciousness but had a small seizure. Because of the possibility of a concussion a brain scan was performed and because of that and the seizure a MRI was than performed. The MRI found that Mickey had a large brain tumor! Now treatment can be done to save his life but without Mickey’s being slammed to the ground it might very well have come to late. We know it is true that God can bring good out of the bad but the bad is still painful. We shrink away from pain and problems. But out of the most terrible things God can bring the most amazingly wonderful things. We avoid problems like the plague but it may be that those problems are used of God for our good. In 1938 a hurricane threatened the New England coast and in one area it was feared that a railroad bridge would be destroyed. However, someone knew what to do and backed a line of heavily loaded rail cars onto the bridge. As a result the bridge was saved because of the great weight which allowed it to withstand the hurricane force winds.
In our own lives those problems, trials, and pain are used of God as well to bring about good and many times to hold us in place as the storms of sin attack our lives allowing us to survive. We serve a most amazing God who can turn even the very worst things into good things. Thank you Lord!!!!
