"Son of man I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel...."

The watchman has the fearsome responsibility of being the only man between a sleeping city and disaster...... He is trusted implicitly by those he is set to guard, and if he fails them he is responsible.
The watchmans job,..... Ezekiels job was to warn the people when danger was coming.
He was to warn the wicked that if they did not turn from iniquity, .....then they would die in their iniquity.
And he was to warn the righteous also, " If you warn the righteous man not to sin, and he does not sin he shall surely live, because he took warning: and you will have saved your life" 3:21..
I do not for a moment suppose there are many wicked people reading these words, but there are plenty of righteous people reading and needing to be warned........ that sin is as dangerous now as it has ever been.
Yes, in you the believer the old nature is on a spring, and the slightest relaxing of that 'bornagain' pressure keeping that spring down will trigger it off; and it will be welling up inside of you in a way you did not believe possible.
We, Gods people need to be constantly reminding ourselves by the watchman of God, of the potential of the sin with us, and so to keep close to Christ; to hold tight to the cross and to maintain a disciplained life, dominated by the Spirit of God, lest sin comes in and begins to get the dominion over us that it wants constantly to have.
Christians with pastoral responsibilitie, you have to go out and warn the Church of God's judgement still on sin. God judges as well as forgives.
You are a watchman,...... without your words Christian people can make shipwreck of their Christian Faith; and without Gods word of warning to you, you can do the same.
What a responsibility you have for your fellow men. God says,........ "Ezekiel, you are a watchman'
