I hope I've posted to the right area, I just feel compelled to share this.

I've just been reflecting on the stuff happening in my life right now and am feeling so challenged by the reminder of how God sees things that we do not see and also testifying of His goodness.

So a lot of stuff is going on at work right now. A big shock came for me this week when my colleague announced that she's leaving with immediate effect. It upset me that she's leaving and it also wasn't pleasant to see her so bitter and unhappy. It turns out she was having personal issues with our manager. However, the reaction from various colleagues in the building has been rejoicing because this girl has an unfortunate manner about her. She's boastful, very blunt, critical and demeaning towards others and generally a snob.

Having worked closely with her, I got to experience both her negative and positive side. The world would say I should also have the same reaction as others. I mean, they have been times when she's put me down and shown me up in meeting and infront of others. Only too recently I witnessed her picking up the phone to lay into one of my other colleagues who happens to be a fellow believer who I have bumped into at church. The attack was very uneccassary and uncalled for.

My Christian colleague has defied odds and shocked so many by getting a prestigious role within the company. People perceive her to be this boring and simple girl, and as you can imagine my outgoing colleague always had a lot to say about that, she was very critical and demeaning.

Reflecting on all of this has just made me realise and appreciate how God blesses us as His people, without us even realising. I mean, there were many people vying for that job but still He chose the 'so called' simple girl over the many 'supposedly' bright sparks in the company. To me that just testifies of His blessings to us as Christians.

I myself, haven't been without my own problems at work. Two years ago I went through a difficult time, my two managers at that time had a deep dislike for me, they even tried to get the personnel department to put me through performance management with the view to getting me fired from the job. I have to admit, I was a very challenging employee because I didn't agree with the way some things were done, it's why my managers developed a dislike towards me. Sometimes I didn't go about challenging issues in the best manner, I was out of order in my behaviour, but as Romans 3:23 says, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. I repented and strive to seek God's guidance daily as I go about my work.

Eventually my two managers from that time had to leave the company, not of their own choices. God also blessed me with a new job, one that I'd been praying for for a while.

The ask myself this question very often, why did God allow me to stay in the company? My challenging behaviour really should have had me dismissed. Why did he eventually change circumstances so those two managers would eventually have to leave, before they were ready to leave?

It's become really poignant to me that what we see with the human eye, isn't what God is seeing. I want to appreciate that more as I go through life and ask for His guidance and plans in the decisions that I make.

Hello Noma24,
Thanks for sharing. I hope you don't mind that I add a couple of comments on what you've written. :)

Too often we appreciate God in our lives for all the blessings that we see. Not realizing that there are many more blessings we have had showered on us that do not become part of our awareness. That is why we should Glorify God for all things which Paul makes mention of in Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Always, remembering, that no matter what or where the circumstances have us. Thanksgiving to God should always be upon our lips. Just keep in mind that when Paul wrote the above verse, he was in prison!

In regards to that girl you were upset about her leaving, not that I'd rejoice as others may have done, but you don't mention if she is a believer. Keep in context that for those who call Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, God who we Love has a plan for us and that no matter what happens, or where we find ourselves in life Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

If you need uplifting. Also, keep in mind that what God is preparing for us we can't even imagine! Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

So, just as that " boring and simple girl", Sister in Christ, advanced, where others did not. The humility that those words reflect which may have been perceived as something else entirely. Does not prevent those who trust in God, in being placed where "He" wants them to be. The purpose behind it could be; "to be an example to others?", maybe as "an answer to prayer?", even quite possibly to "further the kingdom as a witness?". People might ask her or you "Why are you the way you are?" and she answers "Because of Jesus, and this is why...." and gives her testimony. How awesome would that be!!!!!!

For the girl who has left. Keep her in your prayers, that if she doesn't know the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, that one day she will! If she does, that she may come to understand that "humility" becomes all believers, even when you might have to bite your tongue. (I've been there done that.) :)

Well, I think I've said enough....cause I can go on and on. But, lastly, I do want to thank-you once again for sharing. Also, congratulations on the new job! I hope it's everything and more then what you were praying for and expecting!

Little by little, and before you know it you'll be doing it all the time! :)

Thanks for responding and for all the references and promises. I pray that I can be a witness to others at work.

The girl who left is an atheist.

The girl who left is an atheist.

I will join you in prayer for you as well!
As for the girl that left. Even more reason to pray for her! Sometimes I believe they would deny their own existence if they could! Very sad.
Stay faithful sister!
