Colossians 3:15-Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
God's peace acts as an umpire in my heart. If I should lose my peace, I know I've stepped out of God's will. God has taught me; anytime I follow my own will, His peace I can not enjoy. Anything that comes up, even if it sounds good, feels good, and can even be good; if I don't have peace about it, I have learned to leave it alone. Sometimes I do not understand the reason for the unrest, but eventually God will show me. God's Word says to be led by peace. Many times that is all He will give me to let me know if I am in or out of His will.
It's not always easy to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. The flesh (my will) wants to override the Holy Spirit (God's will). When that happens, I lose my peace. As soon as I surrender my will back to God the Holy Spirit Who lives in me as my Comforter, He is faithful to lead me back to peace. Every time I follow God's will instead of my own will, I can enjoy a peaceful day. John 14:27-Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Lord, may we continue to let your peace rule in our hearts as we honor you and give thanks. In Jesus' name, Amen
