Gods’ Phonebook
By The Story Teller
In September of 2000 my wife’s parent called her at work. They heard that a friend had died. They said they didn’t know anything except that they lived in Atlantic City back when they knew them. They wanted to know if we would find out where the funeral was and send flowers. My wife, in turn, called me and ask if I would find out.
I spent the next 3 hours searching on the internet for any information about where or when the funeral would be. I kept coming up with a blank. When I was about ready to give-up I started thinking about the different areas around Atlantic City. I remembered that when I was working I did service calls in many places around Atlantic City. I started searching for flower shops in the smaller towns. I came across a florist that was located in an area that I thought strange. I called them and told them my problem. They not only knew of the person and where the funeral was, they were friends of the family. They assured me that they would hand deliver the flowers but be going to the service. They said they would put together something nice along with a card.
Later that month my wife’s parents called and thanked me for doing what I did. They said they got a card form the wife thanking them for remembering her and the wonderful card. I told them it wasn’t me, it was Gods’ handiwork. I was ready to give-up and a small voice gave me the idea to try one more place. So, when you don’t know where to turn. Turn to Gods’ phonebook. HE knows where everyone is and the information is free.
