Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. Ephesians 6:7-8 NLT
Paul originally gave this advice to Roman slaves who had become Christians. Through he told them to seek their freedom if possible (1 Corinthians 7:21), he also advised them, if they had to remain a slave, to be good examples in their work. If they could follow this Counsel in such difficult circumstances, you can apply it in your job.
You're not a slave, but you may be experiencing some nearly unbearable things in your life. You wonder how you'll make it, or how God could expect you to put up with aggravating circumstances patiently--let alone accept them and have a triumphant, enthusiastic attitude. The only way you can do this is to trust that God will reward you for following His commands during such difficult times.
Jesus turned many common understandings upside down, declaring that the first would be last and that if you wanted to be great, you should become the slave of all. You have to trust deeply in Him to follow His commands.
Prayer: Lord, may I trust that you have the wisdom to see me through my problems and the power to run all unpleasant situations into good ones.
