God does Not promise us all things will go great.

Hi spirit1st. You are absolutely right, bad thinks do happen to good people, but that does not mean God no longer loves them.

Its likely John the Baptist pondered why God allows bad things to happen to good people. If you recall, he was imprisoned and no doubt knew it was only a matter of time before he lost his head. So in Matthew 11:2, 3, he sent his own disciples to inquire whether Jesus was the Christ. This is a strange thing to do, because it was revealed to him by God when he baptized Jesus, that Jesus was his Son, the Christ. John must have wondered why was he still in jail as he was a good man doing God's work. And, why was Jesus not setting up his Kingdom on earth there and then. Furthermore, why was God not getting him out of jail so that he could continue on with his work. Many faithful servants of God have found themselves in serious dilemmas, like being thrown in prison, having serious beatings and even death. Like John they must have thought why does God not do something. Yet it is interesting to see what Jesus said next!

In Matthew 11:4, 5, Jesus clearly shows that he is the promised messiah and was performing works that proved God was with him. Then in Matthew 11:6, Jesus says: "And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." It is easy to blame God when things are not going to well, but sometimes there is a bigger picture which we cannot see at that moment in time. John must have been perplexed that God did not get him out of jail or save his life, yet, 2000 years later people are still reading about what happened to him, and how he remained faithful, even to death! Jesus was basically saying, he is going to leave him their in jail, but it had a purpose behind it John could not see. That is why he said, he would be blesses if he is not stumbled by Jesus' inaction of not saving him. Jesus Kingdom was not to be set up on earth, and he was to die a sacrificial death to save mankind. If he had taken kingdom power and freed John and protected all his followers, he would not have been put to death and provided the ransom sacrifice.

Many scenarios are played out around are lives, and we can become angry that God does not do something to help us. But God is not blind, he has a will and purpose, and may not act on our behalf because there is a bigger picture we just cannot see. Many have suffered terribly, but later, their experiences proved to be a powerful lesson in obedience, endurance and faithfulness, which they just could not see at that moment in time!

We see Hebrews chapter 11 .How much junk some went though for JESUS. Also some let them selves be killed ,when they could not lived.


Heb_11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
That takes some faith .

I been though lots in my life time. But most of it I bought on my self. But I found it trusting in the LORD ,even unto death. Some times it had looked like it was death without any way out?
But He always came though .

It really funny ,once a guy pulled a 357 on me .who had killed a lot of people. But for some reason ? I was at prefect peace. He tried His best to pull the trigger but could not. Longer story but it does not really matter .The point being the LORD WITH US NO MATTER WHAT .

I have one for you.
Some Christians say after they spend time with God, their day goes worse for them, more challenges, difficulties etc.
Others, including myself, find that after spending time with God, their day goes much better.
Sometimes perhaps our life can be worse, but then go better? OR sometimes better, and then go worse?
