The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet [you] with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
Throughout the Christmas season you consider how God is with you, and perhaps you don't immediately see how wonderful that message truly is. Besides coming to earth for your salvation in the person of Jesus, God also takes great delight in you. You aren't just a reclamation project. God's deep joy and delight in you prompts Him to celebrate you and to respond to you with His generous love and kindness.
Perhaps you haven't thought of God's sheer joy and delight for you or His enthusiasm as He sings because you're one of His children. Perhaps you're so quick to move from the manger to the cross as you go from Christmas to Eater that you lose sight of God's deep affection that prompted Him to come live among us in the first place.
Jesus spent so much time healing and sharing meals with His people, not out of duty or obligation, but out of delight. And the same joy and delight that completed Jesus to be present among His people is also why He's present for you today.
